First budget gaming build (2500k VS. 3570K)

Ok so i'll get a Z77, wait for Ivy and I'll get a GTX560 Ti. Because I read that a 660 would be around 400$ and it would be released around the end of july (and probably with stock coolers so more wait till we get pre-OC'ed versions). If you saw something else about 660 please tell me!

Looks like a great parts list to me I just might suggest a better case like the corsair carbide series (nothing wrong with the zalman just havent heard any reviews so yea. Other than that good choices and good luck

I love the ROG boards but unless you need the fan headers etc or just love the colour scheme the pro or deluxe z77 boards will do the same thing IMHO

Ok I think I'll go with the republic of gamer one. Now all I have to do is select a case any sugestions? What size do I need a Mid-Tower is probably enough.

Oh and is my SSD good or other brands are better?

Well with the SSD OCZ is a good choice (some will say it isnt because of previous firmware issues but it should be fine now) and In my opinion if your budget allows I would go for a corsair carbide 500r or 400r for a mid tower case(have the 600t personally and love it) however NZXT also makes an excellent case. Be sure to post pics when she's done

Thanks alot Paulie for all you advises. Btw is 60gb enough for an OS drive I'd like to still have space to put the game I play the most and thats it. Is it enough?

Indeed the 600T is an amazing looking case but it's kinda pricie. Edit: NVM it is awsome I am getting the white edition!

I read that Ivy is running hot and doesnt OC very well. But, I'm not planning to OC like crazy, I would oc at stock voltage so what do you think. I read that a 4.5GHz 3570K is equivalent of a 4.8GHz or so 2500K. But what about the temperatures. Or should I wait for ivy to be released and then buy 2500k because the price would drop? Or order everything before april 29th to get free shipping(50$Shipping)(Before release)? I'm confused!

Starting to get confused about the Ivy and Sandy thing. Read that Ivy isn't that great and running hot!

Anytime :) and thats the exact one i have (albiet I've made some appearance changes) it is a great case that should last you a couple of builds for sure. 60gb is just enough id say... I used to have a 120gb and with win7 and some minor other stuff used about half of it (remember the drive will keep about 10gb sealed off for provisioning etc) so if your apt in data placement etc then it should be fine. I've also heard about the Ivy heat issues... seems to be (senior members feel free to correct me) that if your overclocking thats not the chip for you, and the top speck I7 tdp is close to sandybridge now (they changed it from 77 to 95) so IMHO get a z77 board and a 2500k. You should still get native usb3 and unless your doing sli/crossfire then pci3 isnt of much use to you (again feel free to correct me)

Not sure about what clocks it can reach on stock voltage but heres food for thought. Ivy bridge at 4.8 purportedly runs at 90c on a corsair H100.... whereas sandybridge maxes at 70c i believe (I7 temps btw). So in my opinion again I say sandybridge with a z77 board

^but then that defeats the purpose of going z77. to have pcie3.0 enabled he would need an ib cpu. him saying that he wont oc much shouldn't deter him from going for a higher performance ib.
