Default new build windows wont install

booted my computer for the first time after the build BIOS boots fine and everything seems to be running fine but when i try installing windows (bootable USB) it will load the windows logo but then the mouse and keyboard stop working (all visual indications go off) if you think of something causing it please post it THANKS

My build.

ASUS P8Z68 DELUXE/GEN3
Intel Core i7-2700K
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000)
EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti

My first thought is the USB... can you make a bootable DVD and try off of that?

thanks for your response

i used the same usb for a few other machines and it worked fine.. and i dont see why that would cause all I/O devices to stop working..
but i'll give it a try, thanks

Are you plugging it in to a USB3 port? If so i don't think you can boot off USB3 unless you have the USB3 drivers slipstreamed in your windows installer.

That is correct. Even with drivers, I don't believe they'd load until you get to the format screen. Not 100% sure though.

So yeah, make sure nothing is plugged into the blue USB ports.

thanks guys i guess that was the problem i was using a USB 3.0 port which is attached straight to the mobo
didnt think it was a problem and that the drivers need to be installed prior to use as it detected my I/O devices but i guess for it to be able to read/right data it needs the drivers
