Smile Upgrade help

Hey guys,

I'm planning an upgrade soon, and i am wondering how much of a performance boost a SSD will give me. My current system is as follows:

AMD Phenom II X4 840 3.2GHZ
EVGA GTX 260
4GB DDR3 1600MHZ
Asus M4N68T-M
1.5TB 5900K RPM
750W SLI PSU

My motherboard only supports SATA II and the SSD is SATA III, but i will be upgrading the board soon.

So will the SSD give me a noticable performance increase?

Thanks for the help.

A little faster of Boot times and some programs will boot quicker I would see that you will notice that but once the programs loaded I don't think that you will notice any difference. but that is my opinion I have had a couple of SSDs and that is about the only difference is the loading of programs and boot times.

I just did a new build, and the only increase I see from the SSD, is like said above, boot up and application load time.

What do you use your PC for?

Ok, thanks guys. So what should i do? I'm thinking about upgrading to a core I5 2500K & ASUS Sabertooth P67. And that will give me a huge performance boost.

If you have anyother suggestions please let me know. My budget is $500 including taxes.

instanity i use my PC for Gaming. Games like MW3, BLOPS, Skyrim, BF3...ETC. On that note i know my GPU is a little out dated, i will be upgrading to a AMD HD 7000 Series.

Thanks

I would spend my money on the I5 CPU and MB. I would also add another 4gig of ram. Just my thoughts.

If you buy an SSD now, you it's reusable when you upgrade your entire system down the road. Also, it's backwards compatible with Sata 3Gb/s. You won't see a noticeable difference between Sata 6Gb/s and Sata 3Gb/s. It doesn't really make a difference except in synthetic benchmarks!

I say do it.

You would see a noticeable improvement in loading times, but its not going to make games run any faster. If your after better gaming I think your next upgrade should be your graphics card.
