Need a Wireless Connection to my Custom PC

I have recently put together a new custome built computer for video editing. As I was used to all the laptops I have around the house coming standard with a wireless connection, I overlooked this factor in my build. So now I do not have internet access on my new computer.

Can anybody give my some guidance/options on setting up wireless on this pc? Which wireless cards that will be compatible? Any installation tips? (I imagine the install is simple)

How far from router to rig?

Depending on your router, something like THIS?

That's assuming you want to go wireless with it. Best solution IMO is to put the router/modem next to your desktop so you can hardwire it.

The wireless router is not far from the computer. Just down the hall, basically seperated by a bedroom. Everything is in my apartment which is under 100 sq ft.

I already have wireless supporting all my other laptops when I fire them up. I would like to be able to hop on the internet with my new machine as well.

Okay, see first sentence of my previous post. As long as you have a relatively recent router, it should be an 'N'. Better yet, could you tell us what router you have? make and model #.

If you are unable to relocate teh wireless router to you main rig so that you can hardwire off it, you could just get a wifi pci card or a lynksys usb wifi adapter. It will work, but in the end wifi is never the greatest. What about powerline for your rig instead of wifi? It would be much faster and reliable.

Best thing you can do is to run a hard wire to it but you next best bet is to go powerline and then if that doesn't suit you go with a pci wifi card. Or if you're super cheap like me get a $2 cat5 cable from the dollar store and use a shared connection on a laptop you have
