Everything Old is New Again
So I was looking at my old Lian-Li P-80 case, and I thought "Geez, what a great case that was. Too bad its just sitting there.". So with that I thought I'd build another system with it with some slight modification.
I am using a Silverstone Temjin TJ11 mostly because I like the looks and I wanted a painted interior plus USB 3.0 was nice to have with my high speed external HD. But I can't help but still have a special spot for the old P-80.
First part of this project is to strip the case back to its frame, why, well for powder coating. See I have the TJ11 because I wanted interior paint instead of bare metal. My idea is to have it powder coated, but in order to do that I have to drill some rivets out and remove some plastic parts that will not powder coat. I contacted several posder coating shops in my area, and I have to say many were not interested in my project. Guess they have bigger fish to fry, or I don't represent large volume work for them. I did mange to find one though that was interested in helping me. Ontario Coatings at 292744 Culloden Rd. Brownsville Ontario Ph: 519-877-0000 Martin Gazendam Powder Coat Specialist. They are south of Ingersoll Ontario. I am bringing them the parts on Monday March 5.
So until then here are a few pics of the "before" and stripped case.
