Default PC Build (3 monitors)

Hi,

I'm new to the custom pc world but I need to build my own in order to cope with my work requirment and I was hoping that you can help. I'm stock analyst and a project manager.

I need 3 27" monitors capable of HD 1080p connected to one pc.

I'm not sure about the rest of the parts needed to build my pc. Which case to go with? processor? other part?

I'm really not an expert about this and I'm looking for your help.

Thank you.

Well, any current gen AMD card can do tri monitor without much of an issue, and you do not need the highest end ones to do this.

A decent card for this would be Newegg.ca - SAPPHIRE Flex 100328FLEX Radeon HD 6770 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card this way here you do not need any fancy extra connectors or whatever, in AMD world this is called Eyefinity, it allows multiple monitors to be fed from a single graphics card, you generally need to run 1 monitor off of display port 1 off of HDMI and another off of VGA/DVI, so there are quite a few options here, but I would go AMD in this regard or possibly a Galaxy MDT card, the cheapest that I can see being this one
Newegg.ca - Galaxy 21GGE4AM9EKP MDT X4 GeForce 210 Multi Display 1GB 64-bit DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card now you said 1080p, so I would probably go with Radeon 6770 or higher 6850/6870 etc, but the 6770 should do this fine.

I am not used to doing low cost builds, however, i3 2120 might be a good cpu or AMD Athlon II x4 such as Newegg.ca - AMD Athlon II X4 645 Propus 3.1GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor ADX645WFGMBOX
a good motherboard that will work well for your needs ASUS M5A97 Newegg.com - ASUS M5A97 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
a good power supply Newegg.com - XFX Core Edition PRO550W (P1-550S-XXB9) 550W ATX12V 2.2 & ESP12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply 550w should be more then enough for your needs at least for a "mid to high range" single graphics card
Memory any one of these Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Memory, Desktop Memory, 8GB (2 x 4GB), 1.5V, 9, Gskill DDR3
a good but low cost case Newegg.com - NZXT M59 - 001BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

and of course hard drives/optical drives, keyboard, mouse etc
hard drives tend to range between $65-$180+ for a single drive, if you do not have that much to store/use you could also go with a Solid state drive instead
Newegg.com - Internal Hard Drives
or SSD 60Gb or larger, SSD are very very fast but more expensive for thier size, if you have 2 hard drives, one SSD being for your operating system, and the other being used for storage you get the best of both worlds, but obviously is a larger cost
OCZ Agility 3, Crucial M4, and Corsair Force GT, are all very good, very fast, and resonable cost SSD.
For a Standard Hard drive, western Digital Caviar Blue or Caviar Black, the caviar blacks are faster and with a longer warranty, but for non gaming use, the caviar blue should work fine

Any key board will work fine, we all have our own tastes, for a mouse, Logitech MX518 or Coolermaster Inferno are good picks, and very adjustable while not being to expensive.

I'm not sure if you mean if u can buy from this site (HWC?) but no HWC isn't a retailer.
Try NCIX, or newegg, etc.

How much are u looking to spend?, what are you using the machine for? (games, video editing, etc,), we need more info to suggest a build that would be suitably for your needs

PLEASE when POST threads asking for input on system builds tell us...

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?

9. What resolution do you use?

look at NCIX or other preferable retailer.. (ncix with price-match is a favourite here)

i5 2500k (lets you over clock and not much price difference)
Cooler master 212 + (cheap and good cooler for your cpu)
z68 motherboard (abit gigabyte etc all pretty good, get mid range for a solid but not over the top board)
2x4GB ram (anything at all really in ddr3)
ati 6850 GPU for 3 monitors..
SSD get a 120GB or 256 depending on budget (install your OS and programs here)
HDD.. depends on how much data you store... get any that is large enough.. Seagate Barracuda 3TB is brilliant but may be more than you need
PSU.. any 650 watt seasonic, antec, corsair, xfx one will do and be very solid
Case, any ATX compatible one you like the look of.. is sound an issue?

For the monitors, you may need adapters if they don't take a display-port.. you need to work this out..

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from. US or Canada

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture. I don't have a brand preference.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are. No, I'm not.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads. I didn't.

Just as a slightly over the top example I did the following on NCIX (so price is CA dollars)they are well beyond your needs.. but may be what your looking for..
Really $2500 would be plenty of a budget.. note that these are not including monitors or mouse - keyboard etc (but do have a triple stand for the monitors, which I just noticed are bigger than it can take.. so remove.. :D))
