After all this, while custom built computers are nice and customizable if you do not wish to spend time and effort configure and maintain the computer since you only have limited support from the retailer/forum; you may want to consider brand-name computers such as Lenovo/HP/Dell especially if you are not tech saavy and don't plan to be. Typically these branded computers will come with 3 year warranty and sometimes NBD on site or priority tech support. They will treat you like a complete newb but it's better than having limited tech support or down time which means money lost.
