My System Specs

Default new build

thinking of purchasing the ASUS Rampage IV Exterme/Battlefield 3LGA 2011 Intel X79, what Intel chip should I use, how about memory?

Need all the feedback possible

If you can wait a couple weeks the I7-3820 should be released. Its going to be the cheapest chip and a quad core - performs similar to the 2700k. If you are looking to move to X79 but do not want to spend 600 bucks on a chip this is the ideal processor.

I have a serious question, What are you going to be doing with this computer that justifies spending that much on it? Why go to that socket in the first place when the i5/7 right now are soooooo powerful in their own right?

Why did you go with 16GB of RAM when 8GB is already overkill for 97% of applications?
