Default Asus P6X58D Premium and raiding SSDs

I’ve decided I want to upgrade my from hhds, I want a pair of OCZ’s vertex 3/or octain 120gb sata 3 (6gb/s) in RAID 0 but to my dismay I have come to realize the marvell controller on my mobo is junk. I done a lot of research and have picked out the adaptec 6405 raid card as my top choice. I will be using this set up for my boot drive (win7 x64) with later drives being used as storage. I guess the only reason Im really picking adaptec as my controller of choice is because I had one in my old machine 1210sa and it worked flawlessly. I know that PMC is now in control of adaptec and its now just a name, so my question… is the card I have picked out a good one and what would you guys suggest as maybe a better replacement choice for my setup?

I'm a gamer and i know my video card is at the low end but i can still play with most settings at the higher end.

Asus P6X58D Premium
I7 930
6GB DDR3 1600
Sound blaster X-Fi titanium
ATI 5750 …I know
