does this called gaming system ?
i bought my sytem about 1/5 year ago and i'm planning to assemble new system. but some guys tell me your current system is good and you can play games on optimal setting and you'll never face lack of fps and performance from your gpu/cpu .....
i want to know your comment about my system and if it's good for gaming or not...
i dont know can i call it gaming system or not !
motherboard : gigabyte ep45-tud3lr (p45 chipset )
vga : gainward gts 250 1024 mb dx10 support , (default clock gpu/memory/shader/respectively 675/900/1458 oc'ed to :720/950/1500 )
cpu : intel core 2 quad q8300 2.5 ghz (oc'ed to 2.7 ghz)
monitor lcd samsung 19 inch 1360*768 res support
hard drive : seagate 500 g/B 7200 rpm
ram : 3*2 gb module (6.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 ) 1300mhz bus speed 10,664 mb/s
can u call this gaming ?
whats your opinion on upgrading some parts or should assemble new system ?
i'm planning to replace current vga with gtx 560 ti 448 core .
For any new game on ultra settings toss that all away and start over, for some light gaming on the side, grab a better video card (GTX 460, GTX 560Ti) but no overclock on earth will help that PC game on the newest most demanding games.
I would start over - probably get a few hundred bucks for selling that stuff used.
gtx560 ti is a solid card.
Well I think of it this way, if you like the way or your games are running smoothly right now then don't bother upgrading, I have upgraded or actually built new systems but kept older systems together and just sitting on a both and ran every system with everything the same ( except for the hardware) and to be honest for gaming I notice little difference, the first system I build was had a e8400 with a ati 3870, then I upgraded the video card to a 260 216 core gtx which was a big noticeable improvement, I then got the build bug and built a AMD system 790 board with a 955be 8gbddr2 ram but installed the same video card and same OS Same video cards and same games and noticed slight improvement in gaming but not really allot of improvement, , my VId card cashed in . amnd latter I upgraded video card to a 285 2 gb gtx and that was another good improvement I could play any game at max settings but then I upgraded again bout an Asus Sabertooth Motherboard DDR3 ram and a 1100t cpu over clocked cpu to 3.8 and the only real difference now is my FOlding numbers are allot higher but everything else is pretty much the same.
My point is that even if the numbers show better performance that doesn't really mean anything when it comes to you. after all of the changes I have done I could have saved allot of money and stayed with everything I had originally ( I forgot to mention the CPUs where all water cooled) and just installed my watercooled 2gb 285gtx I would be just as happy. Sure this video card doesn't have the dx11 but come on when gaming and you are running around trying not to get kill there isn't very much time that you are actually stopping to smell the flowers or looking at each and every little detail are you?
thank for all your good tips guys . ( Shadowmeph your post was like a letter ,too long , but u mentioned good tips )
the realiy is i can play all game smoothly without slowdown....( i face with lack of fps when i put anti aliasing 4x and above and i can feel it when moving charracter....)
i can get good fps on game (on optimal setting ,mid-high range.....)
for example on LA.NOIRE (aa 2x , af 2x , res:1360*768 and other setting middrange ) i can get 50 fps... same on mw3.... i can play it even on good-high setting with 50-55 and always getting 50-55 fps.........
and all recent game (deusex/assassin/skyrim/LAnoire/mw3/bf3/rage/nfs run .... ) i experienced good gaming...
i think it doesn't worth if i invest on high-end hardware while i can play and enjoy games with current.
throughout days i'm reading review of hardware ,chipset, graphic card/ cpu /motherboard and reading all benchmarks.... in fact i becamed master in this ! but only in theory ! i dont know how that hardwares feel and i never experienced ....
but question is why should i buy 700$ graphics card while i can enjoy game with 200-300 $ graphics card ?!
you said i'm not playing 720p , how did you say that ? i said my monitor can support 1360*768 resolution ..... and it's not more than 720 ? which number you talking about ? horizontal or vertical ?
in al game i play 1360*768 @ 60 hz.... and getting good fps....
exactly which monitor res is above 720p or 1080p ....?
whats your scale pls describe that.
So, yes, you are above 720p.
Barely above it.
The difference between your rig and a more powerful system is that (as you said) with all the bells and whistles yours slows down massively.
The 2 questions you have to ask are:
Does it bother you to not have all they shiny extras?
If yes then:
Can I afford to upgrade to something I'll be happy with?
You could drop in a new GPU and have a bit of a boost but other than that your looking at starting again.
That said your system isn't bad, it's just a bit old.
But then my single core Athlon XP 4000+, 8800GT is still running at a mates house and I use it for MW3 when I'm round.
Is it pretty? not really.. does it do the job? yep.
i got confuesd for a bit ...
