Planing on Getting:
Norco C-42U 42U Rack Cabinet
NORCO RPC-4020 4U Rackmount Server Chassis w/ 20 Hot-swappable SATA/SAS Drive Bays

Need Advice for:

I would think that the first question ould be how many PCs do you want to be able to connect to the server at once, also do you want to connect to it remotely so that you won't need any video cards or sound cards

Depending on what your needs are that list is far beyond what most home people need.

Your list describes what most people setup for a medium-large scaled setup.

SSDs in a server? Useless.
RAID card? Only if you want true hardware raid.

If linus inspired you, then it have to feature white sox in sandals.

Maybe look for the Revo drive for OCZ so you can have a large SSD for swap file and such. I also really recomand samsung 2TB for storage HDD and Samsung slim DVD burner. To my experience they are quieter than many other and have been good to me.
Western digital is also to look at. Unfortunatly HDD price are very high lately :(

Wow...thats similar to the Server we have on our ship....think we have 9 or 10 drives on it with about 12 PC's Networked and maybe 35 users.......you must have a huge house with a ton of PC's ;)
