Hey Linus! Intel or amd?

Alrighty it seems like i finally picked my pc parts list:

2 200m XIGMATEK Green LED Fans to replace the one 200m fan at the top of the HAF X

My question is, I know that I have everything settled but should I go for amd or intel? I'm having A rough time because I don't know what to pick. I was suggested the intel core i5 2500k. I'm a person who does filming, gaming, tutorials, and screen recording. I use programs such as photoshop,after effects, camtasia, and fraps. I also wish to play some games such as bf3 and racing games. However I'm currently only using a 1650x1050 monitor. What do you guys recommend. If I should get the i5 what motherboard do you recommend? Preferably under 150 because my budget is only 1400 us dollars. Thanks guys!

I would say without a doubt go for an i5. I would only recommend AMD for those upgrading a system, not building from scratch. If you overclock grab a 2500k. If you don't, then save a few bucks and grab a 2400. For the motherboard it also depends on if you want to overclock.

Also, some of the programs you listed are CPU intensive, and you may do better looking at the 2600k. Depends on your budget, but it is good for your editing software. If gaming is your main focus, then 2500k is the way to go.
As far as AMD, I can't say anything good about them. As mentioned by Bond, AMD is fine if you are only looking at like a CPU upgrade, not if you are going to be building a new system, shame really.

the only thing i can give AMD right now is their gpu side of things especially right now, and it pains me to say that and i know for sure that when ivy bridge hits it will be my next up grade to my system from my 1090t

I was very impressed with AMD's performance in BF3. Just finished my testing now that NVIDIA and AMD both have WHQL BF3-optimized drivers. Very pleased especially with the 6990 (with which I've had a bit of a love-hate relationship)

Hey guys! What do you think about a i7-2600k and asrock p67 extreme4 gen 3 setup?
Edit: I believe this is my best option. I only plan on making my CPU overclock to 4ghz maybe a little more. I don't plan on getting more than one graphics card or even more ram. I personally believe this is good right? No need to get a $250 board if I'm only going to use one GPU, normal overclock, and no more than 2 hdds (possibly one ssd).

Just a suggestion if your going with the 2600K go for an Asus or Gigabyte Motherboard. As much as it pains me to say this (I'm an AMD Fanatic). The 2600K is a perfect choice over AMD Phenom II X6.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: Guys, i have a question that is really bothering me. Will this ASROCK motherboard support all my fans on my pc? The HAF X has 4 fans but i plan on installing 5. One in the back, two at the top, one in the front, one on the side. Please help guys i really need to know if this will work.
