Default Single GTX 580 or crossfire 6950s?

Hey, was wondering if it would be better value to get a single 580 and sli it later, or go straight for the crossfire? will they just cut production of the 580s soon after the new gen?
Heres the motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3, and i'm getting a 2500k with that.
Thanks for the advise.

Here's the thing, with crossfire 6950s you'll be able to beat out a gtx 580, however with the way AMD drivers have been lately you may find some games will have poor support when they come out, or no proper/support fix down the line. The 580 will be in production for a while when kepler comes out and will see a price drop over time (as the 480s have seen).

If you want the best performance now, go with the 6950s, if you want better performance down the line with far better drivers go with the 580.

Thinking longevity would be the way to go. Most games (i'm guessing from some benches) can be played at real playable frames on a 580. And if the drives are really a pain like you said, really not worth my time.

crossfire/sli when it works is great, but when it doesn't it is such a hassle.
