The 17 950 is getting a little older but will do you fine for what you use it for and decent price.

Pretty much all the rest of the recommendations these guys made still stick except that you need a triple channel memory kit instead of dual...so either a 6 or a 12 gig kit.

I'd go with this: Newegg.ca - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9T-12GBRL @ $76

Also, I'd go with the better power supply ern88 suggested. the AX series are pretty much unbeatable.

Last thing is cooling. Noctua UH12s were on for $50 last time I looked...good option for air cooling.

Grab a 570GTX, 6-12gb of ram, I personally Use G.Skill and i have never had any problems with it. My friend has 6GB of dominator ram in his i7 950 and says he doesn't like it and that kind of disappointed me because i always wanted to buy it. Id grab a 120GB SSD and a 2TB WD Green an and 850 watt psu. case is all personal taste i can recommend the corsair H series and Noctua coolers both are amazing.

techman95 October 27, 2011 06:33 PM

well since you got the 950 and p6t for 175 id say thats almost a steal. but yea go for a triple channel kit which are usually 12 or 6gb and have 3 sticks. for a video card i would recommend a 6950, 6970, or a 570 all are really great cards and you cant go wrong with either choice. get an ssd preferably a 120gb and in my opinion the m4's made by crucial are the most reliable. the case is all your choice of what you like but i will recommend a haf 932 or any corsair case and for power go with a corsair, sesonic, or xfx 850watt :thumb:
