Default bf3, diablo 3 and skyrim build

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

Main purpose is gaming bf3, diablo 3, watching HD movies and general browsing etc...

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

$2200

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

US i have a fry's microcenter newegg with in driving distance

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.

i wanted to build a BD system but with the reviews im going to be going with SB every thing else is up in the air what ever gives me the best performance in gaming

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

just my logitech G5

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

Yes

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

Overclocking

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?

with in 2 weeks

9. What resolution do you use?

1920x1200
im currently looking at the HP zr2440w or zr24w

cpu: 2500k $179 microcenter
mobo: asus p8z68- pro $169 microcenter
case: corsair 600t white $169
psu: corsair hx750 $147
hd: HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000.D HDS721010DLE630 $69
ram: 8gb corsair vengence $49
gpu: im not sure if too buy 2 6950 and crossfire them or get a single gtx580 about $500
monitor: ill be sticking with single screen for now HP zr2440w or zr24w but im open to other options i would really like a 27" but those might be out of my price range. $400
cooling: h100 or h80
keyboard: razer black widow or corsair fps board $129

most if not all the parts I'm able to drive and pick them up i might buy a few things from amazon no tax! and newegg has will call. im looking to build a system thats going to last a while possibly upgrade to sli or crossfire in the future.

Thanks for looking any help is appreciated

I'll interject before others do.

For these games you will want an NVIDIA GPU. AMD has had some serious issues with Crossfire support for newer games.

I also recommend you change out the hard drive for a 2TB model as these days 1TB can get filled up pretty quick. I know this is much (MUCH) more expensive than the Hitachi you linked but I recommend the WD Black 2TB: Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD2002FAEX 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

I agree with switching the hard drives, And going with an Nvidia card... I would recommend the 570GTX or 580GTX, I have the 570GTX and it runs BF3 perfectly, And you can always SLI in the future with Nvidia if you really wanted too. Id also recommend the benq 120hz monitor if you're going to be buying one.

How can you say that? Have you played the full release version? And at what settings and resolution did you play at?

It has been stated that you will need dual GTX 580's to run BF3 on max settings at full 1080p or higher. I'm sure Skyrim will require some serious firepower as well as it's little brother was pretty graphic intense.

That's a lie, it will not require 2 580's in SLI for max settings at 1080P. A 570 will max BF3 @ 1080P no problem.

LOL WHAT

Edit : my friend plays bf3 on his 1090T and crossfired 6870's and plays the game fine @ 1080P he gets about 60fps w/ vsync on high and around 35-50 on ultra he says it's playable, personally i can't stand playing an fps game without atleast 125 fps.

Choices look pretty solid. I back up the switch to Nvidia graphics. Either GTX 570 or 580 for those games(better bang for buck vs just better bang). For the HDD I don't have any experience with Hitachi, so my vote would go to a WD black and if its in your budget/wants throw a decent SSD in there to boost loading performance. If you plan to SLI one of these cards in the future I would bump the PSU to the 850w model. If you are staying single card than your choice is great.

Everyone else....what Pabz0r545 is talking about in regards to BF3 is that there are no reviews published yet for the retail BF3. I believe it has been released now for those that pre-ordered (correct me if I am wrong). Not sure if graphics changed much from beta to retail or not (someone with the retail game can chime in on that).

That's crazy since the human eye can't process anything more then 60..

I dunno that is what the DICE community manager said. You can easily find the article on PC gamer. I believe that source more then same random nvidia fanboy. I'm sure it runs fine on many setups but I do know that my dual 6870's only run 1 setting on ultra and the rest high and 1920x1200.

I think your configuration is just fine, for BF3. I am very nervous about Skyrim not having initial good crossfire support.

What I would do is buy 2x6950 by asus, the direct cu2 unit (either 1 gig or 2 gig depending on how many monitors you plan to use) and then flash the bioses (bioses or biosi?). I like doing this on the ASUS card because the direct cu2 card has decent (but loud) cooling. This will give you the performance of 2x6970 for the price of ~ 600 cdn.

I'll be the first to admit i'm and AMD fanboy, but i'll also say that i'm really upset about crossfire support for earlier games, but I am hopeful that crossfire support will be as robust as SLI in this upcoming offering from the game gods (MW3, BF3, skyrim all at once!).

Now, about the keyboard, I actually am the proud owner of a Razer black widow ultimate, and I love it to death. I believe it has the cherry BLUE switches, and I have never used a better gaming keyboard. It only has 6 key anti ghosting but i haven't needed to use more than 6 keyboard keys at once..... yet!

Also, razer is offering a BF3 special edition black widow ultimate keyboard, and a special edition of the imperator mouse! I'd really reccommend the imperator for bf3, except for one facet of it: it does not have a "snipe" button. I set up the 2 buttons just under the mousewheel to select 5400 dpi (new imperator is 6400 i believe) and 800dpi, but i think a button that lowers the dpi to a set rate only when it is depressed is much much much much better for those stupidly long shots.

Anyways, hope my rant helps! I have a couple friends in the same boat atm lookin to buy almost the same hardware.
