New Computer Build, Which Graphic card to take?

I am planning to make a new build, so far this is what I've had in plan

Case : Thermaltake level 10 snow
Motherboard : Asus Rampage III Black Edition
CPU : Core i7 980
Memory : 2x Corsair Vengeance 12GB Tripple Channel DDR3
O.S. HDD : 240gb OCZ Revodrive3 X2
Storage Drive : Not decided yet.

As for cooling It will depend on my graphic card.

So between :
-Asus GTX 580 Matrix
and
-EVGA GTX 580 Classified Hydro copper

Which one would you think will perform better on my build?

I saw one of ur video unboxing the matrix, are the fans making a lot of noise when they r under pressure from gaming?
I am only considering getting a hydro copper GTX 580 because I am currently running 2x GTX 470, and they are loud as hell when I play on max settings on some games, plus the top card is running way hotter than the bottom card.

Right now I only have the budget to buy 1 card, But I could possibly buy another one in the future.
Please let me know of what you think of my build, any critics or suggestions will be MUCH appreciated.
So far the only ones that I have bought are the Case, and the CPU, I am planning to buy the rest after I have received your blessings =)

I think you'd be best to go with the matrix The evga card you quoted requires watercooling and I dunno about that on that case.

The case actually allows water cooling.
Which is why I considered the evga one.

Performance base, do you know if the EVGA classified can compete with Asus Matrix?

Also do you have any suggestions / critics on my build?
I just need someone to either suggest something else for my motherboard / ram / storage
or just say that it's all good >.< just need some mentality boost lol

yeah. the i7 2600k is basically on par with the i7 980 at about 1/3 the price. Newer tech too. Get a Z68 board such as ASUS and you'll be happy.

Z68 board and i7-2600K bundle

also get a WD green drive for storage

and if you don't have a power supply yet you cant go wrong with a Corsair AX850

Agreed. For 99% of tasks the 2600k is the way to go (including gaming). 980 is a waste of $. LINK

Grab a 2600k, the Z68 based MOB of your choice with the features you want and some 2x4gb ram as you see fit.

EDIT: just read that you already have the CPU. If you can return it IMO I would and use the cash you saved for other parts (ex = the second 580 you said you would have to wait for if it is required). Otherwise I guess it is what it is.

Yeah I can return it as I haven't open the seal yet.

I just thought that when gaming, all the graphical processing will be shifted to the gpu, so having a 2600k wouldnt do any better, but since u guys said that, I guess i'll return it and switch to i7 2600k then.
I've got a corsair 1000W PSU from my current pc, so I guess it should be fine.

So, CPU : i7 2600k
Graphic card : GTX 580 Matrix ?

U guys think that'll be the best?

I also found a bundle on eBay, Intel Core i7 2600K CPU + Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z Motherboard Combo Set | eBay

Personally, I'd get the 580 Hydro, simply because watercooling will make higher overclocks possible without making the noise get absurdly loud. But if you don't care about the noise, then get the Matrix.


Anyways... depending on where you're buying from, you can get the bundle cheaper than that. For example, you can get the i7 2600k from Newegg for $309 Canadian, and the motherboard from DirectCanada for $325, which makes it cheaper than the ebay bundle.

I Live in Australia.. =( I always got so sad cuz good deals are mostly located in america region..
Yeah That's what I am thinking.. so I guess that's all good!!

I'll be taking the GTX 580 Classified Hydro copper, since it's Waaay slimmer than the Matrix anyway..
