Time for an Upgrade! :D

Time for an upgrade and i just want to hear what you think about this!

I currently have:
Motherboard : ASUS Crosshair IV Formula, Socket-AM3 ATX, AMD890FX
PSU: Chieftec Nitro Series BPS-850C 850W (have Corsair HX850, going in when i get the new parts)
Harddrive : WD Caviar® Black 1TB x2
Monitor : Philips 24" Brilliance 244E2SB 1920x1080
Fans: Akasa 120mm Red LED Fan 1200RPM
Tower : Fractal Design Define R3 Arctic White
GPU : Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 1GB PhysX CUDA
CPU : AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition (overclocked to 4.1GHz)
CPU cooler: Corsair H50 Hydro Series CPU Cooler
Ram : Kingston DDR3 HyperX blu 1333MHz 2GB (8gb total)

It's a great setup rly ;D CPU is from 20-40 degrees celsius (68-104 fahrenheit) when im playing..
This runs even BF3 on Ultra with nothing less than 30FPS.. but i want to upgrade anyway ;D

Plans:
-ASUS GeForce GTX 560Ti 1GB PhysX CUDA(maybe 2 in SLI) or PowerColor Radeon HD 6950 2GB GDDR5
-NZXT Phantom Special Edition Red/White
-Red Corsair Vengeance™ DDR3 1600MHz 4GBx4 CL9(16Gb total)
-NZXT Sleeved LED Kit Cable 2M Orange or red (seems like there is some problems with the red one, setting fire on computers and such )
-Cooler Master SickleFlow 120mm Red LED 2000RPM (5 of them)
-NZXT FS 200RB 200mm Enthusiast Fan 800RPM

Im planning on unlocking the 6950 to a "6970" if im getting that..
Thoughts? anything else i can do?

low budget btw, can just about aford this ;D

IF LINUS READS THIS! AMD vs Intel!
could you please do the showdown 1 more time and test all the games with the 6970 and see if it's better than 2x 590s on all the games, then there is gotta be somthing wrong! x)

6950's cannot be unlocked to 6970's anymore unless you buy a used one from when they were first released.
otherwise it looks like a good upgrade to me.

When the first cards came out, AMD was just taking 6970's and selling them as 6950's to meet demand for a cheaper product. Once they have production up and running, they can just make 6950's and 6970's separately because there isn't as big a rush to get them out at the product launch.


Now this might be personal preference, but I have the Fractal R2, and I don't really see the point in putting LEDs inside the computer when the case doesn't have a window...

Because AMD would be loosing quite a bit of money if they kept the same PCB and allowed people to unlock their cards, so they slightly altered the 6950 PCB as a refresh so it cannot be done anymore.

So i could buy an "older" 6950 and unlock it then?
You're not telling me which is better of 6950 and 560Ti, so i have gone for 6950 or 6970 ;D
Because: it beats 560Ti in most games (allthough i have seen 560Ti beat 6950 in a 3Dmark 11 test..)
Also, Dual 6950's is better than dual 560Ti.. costs more though, in Norway anyway ;D
then, when i get enough moneyyyy for it, ill buy a second 6950 or 6970 :D

i would advise to getting a 560ti, BF3 seems to have some issues with AMD cards at the moment from what i've seen, but thats just driver issues.

A friend of mine has a better set up then me, just that he got a abit cheaper motherboard from MSI, but he got 560Ti and he cant play BF3 on Ultra.. so where did you hear that?
I also heard you need atleast GTX580 to play with every thing on ultra on BF3.. can't believe everything you hear, it's fine with a 460...

It all depends on the resolution.. i played BF3 fine on ultra settings @ 1680x1050 with my 560ti. And for a GTX580 being a minimum is for resolutions above 1080P, a 570 will play it just fine at other res's.
