Default Is this a alright build??

hey linus,
so i did all my research and stuff of all the things im going to buy to build my rig. So i want you to let me know on what you think and if its a good strong rig to play games such as SC2, etc. Its a mid budget gaming pc and want to run at least a high settings on all games with no lag. Here's the list below.

1. Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 AM3 890GX
2. AMD PHENOM IIx4 965 BLACK EDITION
3. G-SKILL SNIPER 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3
4. EVGA 1GB GEFORCE GTX 460 (FERMI)
5. CORSAIR PSU 600W
6. WESTERN DIGITAL CAVIAR BLACK 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB

let me know what you think about this whole setup i have in mind.

Well I don't know what your budget is or where you're buying it from but the build looks like it would do SC2 fine.

However... the non-sale price for your CPU and motherboard is almost as much as the sale price for a motherboard and i5 2500k which is a MUCH better processor than the Phenom II.


So what is your budget anyways?


Also... you don't have a case listed.

my budget, i would probably say at least 800 or close to 1,000
and i have a NZXT phantom case. Im a AMD fan :D and its mostly used for gaming.
also im gettting all this from Newegg.com

That machine should be fine for SC2. My old machine was able to handle 4v4's on High and Campaign on Ultra at 1920 x 1200 and I was running a machine not quite as good as yours. Q6600 with 3Gb of ram and a radeon HD 4870 video card.

The PHENOM IIx4 965be out performs the Q6600, and the gtx 460 is far better then the 4870.

i really appreciate all your guys help ahhah i also forgot to to put on the list, im also planning on getting the
"CORSAIR CWCH50-1 High Performance CPU Cooler" to replace the stock CPU stock fan. Also im debating on getting the "Evga 1gb GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi)" instead of the "Evga 1gb Geforce GTX 460 (FERMI)

How much is the 460? Iirc the 550ti sells for about 120-130?
