Default Need feedback on proposed build

Hey guys. I live in Canada and I am building a new desktop and wanted to get feedback on the system I am making.

1. Tasks: Gaming and other general things

2. Budget: 1,000 (not a hard budget, so 20% variance)

3. Country: Canada

4. Brand Preference: None

5. Current Parts: None.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads: Yes, just wanted advise on my proposed build though

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds. No plans to initially overclock but the option would be nice

8. WHEN: Next week

9. What resolution do you use? 1080P

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K - $209.69
Motherboard: Asus P8Z68 Pro - $189.69
Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212 $25.3
Graphics Card: HIS Radeon 6950 2GB - $269.99
Power: Corsair TX650 V2 650W ATX 12V - $88.1
Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-16000 CL9
Hard Disk: WD Caviar Black 750GB -$57.66
Monitor: Asus VW 246H - $200
Case: HAF 912 - $51.19

I actually wanted more suggestions on the monitor. I already have a 42" inch 1080p tv, so I was looking for a 22" monitor. But I read that the 22" monitors aren't very good, which would defeat the purpose of building a pc around i5 and 6950 video card. Do you guys have any other suggestions?

I would also welcome any keyboard suggestions, price range around $50.

Thanks guys, appreciate it!

Upon further reflection, I think a monitor of the size of 20" to 21.5" would be ideal for me because I'll be sitting quite close to it.

Also, there is a chance I'll be moving after a year. I was thinking I could easily take the CPU and GPU with me but the motherboard might be trickier. So I was thinking of a cheaper motherboard:

GIGABYTE GA-Z68A-D3H-B3: Newegg.ca - GIGABYTE GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

I doubt I'll be trying to overclock in the first year. Might as well save $70.

I don't think i understand the comment:
"But I read that the 22" monitors aren't very good, which would defeat the purpose of building a pc around i5 and 6950 video card. Do you guys have any other suggestions?"
How would monitor size change your set-up.. it's the resolution that will push your hardware. 1080 is the same on 22" or 42". if you mean image quality, then the monitor isn't that bad that you won't notice the difference the hardware will bring. TBH unless your monitor is an IPS or VA panel, the quality will be low but not to the state where I think your talking about.

On how close you sit to the screen. i usually aim for about the 300mm to 500mm (1ft - 1.5ft) range when sitting up straight at the keyboard and find 20" small and 28" big..
suggest 24 as perfect with 22 or 26 as options depending on budget and preference.

When you say your moving. You mean changing country (or at least using plane for travel) you can ship the entire thing pretty easily.
Choose a case big enough(not huge my CM 690 II was big enough for me) and you can pack all the parts up inside and ship as 1 box or take as luggage.
I would suggest removing HDD's and carrying them in hand-luggage as they are more prone to shock / vibrations than most other parts.

The Gigabyte is a great SLI/CF board and much cheaper. I would change the video card to Sapphire Toxic. Keep everything else. You did good.
Your build can easily support CF, except for the case. Perhaps a Rosewill Blackhawk or HAF 922 will do?
If you will change to the Toxic and CF, for $13 more you can get the TX750W v.2. The Toxic card when unlocked and manually overclocked can consume up to %20 more power than a reference HD6950.

Can't say much about monitors, since I haven't bought one in some time. 21.5 would be the min size I would ever buy. That said I prefer a little larger than that. The ASUS you linked to looks quite nice IMO.

The rest of the build as you listed it is very solid. As for the motherboard I always go for the cheapest ASUS/Gigabyte/MSI (usually in that order for me) that has all the features that I want/need (if OC is part of what you want then you need a higher end MOB generally speaking). If the cheaper gigabyte has the features you need, then I say save the $70. I don't think you will get much more than mild suggestions/opinions to your build. If you did want the ability to xfire down the road a slightly bigger case would make it easier and a bigger PSU would be required. If you don't care about xfire then your good as is. Maybe a couple extra 120mm fans to add to the case. Enjoy.
