1000-1500 budget gaming build

Hey guys,

A cousin of mine just asked me to look him for a PC upgrade, in the range of 1k$ to 1.5k$ and here's what I came with in the blink of an eye;

MB Asus P8P67 Pro
CPU Intel i5 2500k
GPU MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr II OC
RAM Corsair Vengeance 8GB
SSD Mushkin Chronos 120GB
HDD Western Digital Black 1TB
PSU Corsair TX750

I'll see if he wants to OC or not (to add a good cooler)

He plays on a 23 incher, plan to give a try at BF3, and he plays alot of game.

Any comment on the build?

We'll reuse his Antec 1200.

I'd ick up a z68 mobo instead get a 60 gb ssd use it for caching and use the money saved to upgrade to a gtx 580 personally.

If you are buying this from NCIX, try the price match for this z68 mobo on sale from canada computers. I did own it once and it's pretty damn good!

The ud5 is a very good board you could also look at the asus v-pro.

Paired with everything you have their except for the SSD. Downgrade the ssd to a 60 gb vertex 3. And upgrade the 570 to a 580.

This isn't the best band for your buck but is probably best performance for your budget.

looks like an overall solid build to me. nothing to sneeze at that's for sure.

I would not pay the extra for a 580, 2 560 would outperform a 580 any day of the week, a 6950 especially a factory overclocked version will keep up with a 570 and still be less costly, the 570 vs 580 is a pretty big overall price jump, to me not worth it, to each thier own.

I also would pay the extra for a Corsair HX750, better overall, can handle high loads alot better, and superior efficeny(more power available and less heat) There is alot of really decent power supplies, that can supply from 54-64a on the 12v range, all is more then enough for a single GTX 580 or below or a single Radeon 6970 or below, XFX XXX 6950 2gb are hard to match in performance/price.
