Memory and Cooler for 2600K

so, for my build, I'm going to be using a SG07 with a 2600K cpu. I was just wondering if my memory is a good choice(i honestly just picked one of the more expensive sets) and if my cooler would work with my case(i picked the block cause it looked cool...)

memory: Mushkin Enhanced Redline 1600Mhz CL-8 8GB @ $108.99
cpu block: Prolimatech Samuel 17 @ $42.20

I'll be doing mainly programming and some very moderate gaming on the machine(when i can afford a gpu lol).

I'm thinking of going fanless on the cpu block and just having the giant case fan do the work of moving air. thoughts?

I was also kinda wondering how much overclocking I could get away with in such a small case. As well, I would like to upgrade to a 27" 1440p display at some point and I would need some power budget reserved for the gpu. Meaning that I should consider not overclocking the cpu at all and just getting the 2600.

I'd probably go with a Corsair H60 if you can get catch one on sale (easier now since it's been out for a while), as it will drastically outperform the Samuel 17 for ~$15 more (). As for the RAM, that set might be a little overkill for your purposes, you will be just fine with a less expensive set, something with CL-9 timings, since you're not going for that killer overclock.

As for overclocking, you should easily be able to hit ~4.4 -4.6GHz with that chip and an H60, if you were to stick with the Samuel 17, you're probably looking at 4.1 - 4.2GHz, depending on the chip of course.

Don't worry about the power, your video card will use predominantly the 12V rail, so you should have no issues there.

doesn't seem to perform that well. even with a fan on it...at high speed

No way I would spend $100 on memory, there is no point. Plus that kit is out of stock anyway.

if you want fanless,you'll need the hr-02, the original one. :)

and as for ram, as long as its 1.5v and not too high of a profile,you'll be fine.
