Question 800D WC advice

Hey guys, i have been bashing my head on the wall for a few months now whether not i want this case or that or do i want air cooling or water cooling etc etc

So for my own sanity I'll just stick to the Corsair 800D (my initial choice). I mean it was either this or something from the guys down at murder mod murderbox, but damn is their stuff expensive (i could wait for the cosmos 2?).... i could easily spend a grand just on the case!

But since i've never watercooled before i kinda find my self in a similar situation.. should i pick this pump? that res? see a pattern haha? aah to be indecisive . So Which setup do you guys think will work best, any help is deeply appreciated!

Here is what i've come up with so far (they seem pretty standard... and yeah i'm no good with paint):

_dangtx_, the question wasn't air or watercooling, it was how to go about watercooling.

For the OP, it depends what CPU you are trying to cool. Sandybridge chips run cool, so if that's what you are using I'd be tempted to run the CPU on the 240 rad if you go with split loops. Personally, I'd go with a single D5 pump / single loop just because it keeps it cleaner looking inside the case. Any of the 3 loop configurations you show would work, though.

i know,. tried to save him a headache+work :)

i say the simplest way around, though one pump at each end wouldnt be too bad.

Thx for the replies, definitely the single loop looks much tidier and probable cheaper too. But i did like the idea that i could combine the res and pump together in one package rather than finding a spot to place the pump by itself. Maybe i could get it to sit on the divider between the psu and the motherboard under the gpus

Would this be a good D5? =Swiftech MCP655-B 12v Water Pump w/ 3/8" Conversion Kit (317 GPH) - FrozenCPU.com

As for the cpu i've been waiting on the bulldozer to come out but on the rare chance the reviewers here at HWC find it's junk i'll be grabbing a sandy bridge. It is supposed to be a 95watter like the sandy bridge so i would presume it'll run just as cool?

those 655's are beasts. from personal experience, the ones where you cant control the speed of it tend to outlive their controlled brethren..

could be because ppl play with it too much.maybe
sandy bridge right away..for dozer, we'll have to wait and see..maybe less for multithreaded apps where it should thrive well.

You'd be amazed how good even a single 320 Rad can be. Add a 220 in there too and you have more than enough. I am running, all in 1 loop, 2 x 120W Clovertown Quadcore Xeons and my GTX 580 OC'd to 950Core. This is with 1 little compact pump, and somewhat restrictive EK Supreme's with 2slot plates. I'm getting a 10c temp diff between idle/load, not too shabby.
