Default Purchasing an "Open Box Item" question

If I were to purchase an open box item on ebay would I still be eligible for the manufacturer warranty of the product? Not sure if it makes a difference but the manufacturer is OCZ.

Thanks!

I'm fairly sure you'd need an original receipt of sale for warranty purposes. However I've had a few times where OCZ never asked for it since I guess if it has "lifetime" warranty, there's no need for a receipt.

The item in question is an SSD and would only have a 3 year warranty! So I guess then they wouldn't back that up seeing as I wouldn't have an original receipt.

Depends heavily upon the manufacturer. Many do not require original ownership but there are plenty that do.

Don't want to sound like a smart-ass, but: open-box+eBay+(questionable)warrenty+OCZ SSD, what could possible go wrong? Nothing like buying an expensive paper weight. Personally, I probably would not buy an open-box SSD from a truely reputable e-tailer, not to mention Russian Roulette Bay. Just my 2 cents.
