Default feedback on 2500k gaming build

Hello, i'm planning to buy a new computer over the next month. Just need some feedback on the parts.
I would like to keep the budget at around $1000, but spending over is not a huge problem. CPU and GPU will be overclocked.
I want to play games in 1920x1080 in ultra with 50+ fps, so maybe the GPU I chose will be insufficient.
Games I will be playing: sc2, cs:go, dota2, l4d2, bf2. I will not be playing the games like metro 2033, bf3, crysis 2, etc

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3-ISSD
This mobo has an integrated 20gb intel 311 ssd. I'm planning to use this for intel srt.

GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6870 Black Edition
Not sure which 6870 to get or what other card, would appreciate some alternative suggestions

Case: Coolermaster Haf 912

PSU: Corsair HX650
I will be crossfiring the 6870 in the future if I need to, not sure if I should get 650W or 750W

CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212+

Ram: 8GB G.Skill 1600 9-9-9-24
Again, not sure which ram to get. Open for suggestions as long as it is 8gb

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200RPM

DVD drive LG Gh24LS70
just chose this random one, doesn't matter at all to me

If you know you are going to be adding a second video card in the future, go with the 750w now. That way you ensure there is enough juice without having to upgrade that as well.

For ram go with 2 sticks if you want the Hyper 212+, or get ram without heat spreaders. That way you don't run into clearance issues bewteen the ram and cooler.

looking good. try to go for a 6950 card. 2gb buffered preferably.

psu is fine. even with 2 cards. we're talking stock clocks here.

bout 270-300 watts on the 12v rail for 2 cards. stock. oc? add another 100 watts or so.

edit : welcome aboard!
edit2:finally someone chose the one case to chose right from the get go! :p

but can't i put the ram in 2nd and 4th slot, that way the height won't conflict?

I know the performance with a 6950 2gb is very good for the price increase, but I don't want to spend more than I need. Again, I won't be playing the graphic intense games such as battlefield3. thx for the welcome, been lurking for quite a while though

cool. but even games that are not video card killers will dip below your mark there with all the eye candy on and cranked up and such :)

for a few bucks more, i wouldnt be able to sleep at night if i got the 6870 lol.

Hmm, maybe I will get the 6950 then. Should I upgrade to 750W instead if I were to xfire ?

if you want to overclock perhaps yes. if not, you'll be ok.

300 gpus and anothjer 150-200 from the system max.

although i doubt, again at stock, youll pull more than 500-550 at the wall.

and that psu can do 600 watts on the 12v rail(single) easily. and thats output.

Depending on your monitor, if its newer and vibrant, you may want to consider an Nvidia video card for the "Digital Vibrance" setting also. I could never go back to ATI after seeing what digital vibrance can really do to make colors seem life like and not dull in good monitors.

On 6870 vs 6950:

I running the 6870 with i5 2500k (both stock speeds only so far). I've run some Starcraft II starter edition (will be buying the full soon), all maxed out on 1920x1080 with no frame rate issues at all. I've also run half life 2 episode 1 and 2 with no issues at all, but those are a little old by comparison.

Not sure if that helps your decision, but thought I'd give the feedback.
