@dangtx
if it doesn't get too heated then its fine :) less cost the better :D

@czarnianq
i'm gonna go with resale value and also i don't have reconfigure for atleast 4-5years with i5.

@JJThomp, @dangtx
if the higher end cards are just to run games in high resolutions then i'm better off with hd6870 or nvidia 460.
I'm not into folding, but is it worth it? What do i gain from it?

it'll be fine

well look at this :

newer games could potentially be monsters...1-2 years down the line,where you might have second thoughts

again, i would either wait or go for a 6950 right now

well,you fold for a cause

i mean some run bitwhatever on there hw to get money...

Folding ppd doesn't get you any money. Dan is talking more about mining and bitcoins.

The only benefits to buying a higher end card now will be for future monitor upgrades, and better resale value. you will get higher FPS even on the monitor you have but the only game you could potentially need a high end card on with that resolution is metro 2033.

Folding is just something that is for fun that helps medical research in protein folding.

At the end of the day if you aren't going high end gfx card pick up a 6850 or gtx 460 1gb or 768 will do at your res (not the SE version, never the SE version) both can be had for around $100. Personally I recommend the 6850 as it is cheaper and will give better performance.

I will just buy the graphics card later . Yea, you are right instead of going for 6870 i could go for 6950 as the price difference isn't that big.For a cheaper card i could go for 6770 or mid range card 6850. Is there any card which will last more than 1 or 2 ? People always have problems after 3 months or 6months.

The cards should last more than 1-2 years... as a matter of fact I believe they all have a 3 year warranty.
