Default Fusion build

Client wants a new (cheap) system, for at the most intensive, 1080p video to a TV. So my first thought was to try out Fusion for the first time. I'm kind focused on a quad core though.

A8-3650, Asus F1A75-M, 4 gigs of something, some HDD (probably a Green) and a PSU.

sounds pretty good and simple, yeah? or should I beef that up to a 3850? Just throwing out the idea for a sounding board.

I would probably go like this for a cheap fusion build, using ncix's weekly sale, without any price matches:
- A3850 Apu for 135
- Gigabyte A75M-UD2H for 100
- Gskill 8GB 1600 for 60
- Antec 300 for 40
- Samsung SH-B123L Blue Ray Drive for 65
- Corsair CX430 V2for 35
- Seagate 7200.12 1TB for 48
Total: 484

Ideally, I would use a fractal core 3000 instead of the antec 300, for 30 bucks more. If you don't need a blue ray drive, there is a 16 dollar samsung dvd drive.

For a Fusion based PC, a faster RAM like DDR3-1600 is highly recommended as DDR3-1333 is shown to bottleneck the IGP and DDR3-1866 is just too expensive compared to DDR3-1600. About 4GB or more is also recommended as the IGP does need memory from the RAM as there is no dedicated sideport memory. You wouldn't want the WD Green as your boot drive, look for regular 1TB drives like the Samsung F3, WD Blue, Hitachi or Seagate.

i agree, if you get some good 1600 it will oc to 3.2 on stock air with ram around the 1700 mark.

I figured 4 GB would be enough, like I said this isn't an intensive rig at all. I'll grab some 1600 if it's worth it.

Any reason the Gigabyte board was suggested over anything else?

If a faster drive is available for a good price, then I'll grab it, otherwise I'll go with a green, they aren't THAT bad :P
