Thank you for answering, unfortunately I am on a tight budget and can't go much over 1100 so if I do go with the gx660 would it be able to run a game like the witcher 2 on high setting?

good.

when are you going to buy?

i cant asnwer the witcher II question, perhaps look up a review of it and see what hardware
they run it on?

don't forget...5850 mobile is not as strong as a 5850 desktop gpu...more like a 5770 if memory serves
right

Medium settings, definitely.

High settings..... possibly. Mobility 5870 is somewhere between a discrete HD5750-5770 I think. You wouldn't be getting amazing framerates, but it would certainly be possible.

I am hoping to buy sometime within the next couple of weeks , the only thing now troubling me is the performance I would much rather buy a desktop but I will be moving from place to place every few weeks so its not really an option, I'm just not sure a laptop is worth the money if the performance is not able to match a desktop for the same price

Portability always costs money, which cuts into the money available for performance. Having comparatively unlimited power and heat limits gives desktops a significant advantage.

get a 24 incher or 22 incher lcd and one of those shoe box or close sized computers
in some you can fit quite the video card. the lot the same or cheaper than your laptop with much
better performance figures.

I'm thinking that i might just buy a desktop and suffer through a couple month without it, just wondering what to expect from the desktop below?

Vesta i5 3200 XFire
Intel Core i5 2300 Quad Core Processor
Radeon HD 6850 1GB Graphics
4GB DDR3-1600 Memory (RAM)
1TB 64MB 7200RPM Hard Drive
520W 80 Plus Power Supply
7.1 high definition audio
