Why are so many ppl not liking the OCZ power supply I have? I thought when I bought it that it was pretty good?

My System Specs

Smile New Build

Their psu record isn't very impressive. Corsair, Seasonic, XFX psus r generally more reliable, and can withstand heavy loads 4 longer periods of time.

I see. As far as I can see this unit has been great. Both my CPU and my GPU are overclocked and the PC is never shut off and I have had no problems. This case has 6 fans, and I have 3 HDD in there.

Either way, I think I am going to wait and get a CPU and MB, RAM, and GPU all at one time.

Well guys,
Change of plan. 2 nights ago my current GTX 280 went south on me :( So I pulled some strings (Father's day gift, early birthday) and I can replace this thing.

I have about $550-600 Can to spend. I was thinking the Gigabyte Super Overclocked 580, but have read on Tom's Hardware that 2 x hd 6950 will outperform.

Thoughts?

Totally depends on your resolution you're running. To be honest a 580 is overkill for 16x10 reso's, and Im still not sold on AMD's Xfire track record enough to invest in it (ask Arinoth about the horrors for first hand experience).

Have you considered picking up a used system off the forums here? You could probably get a good i7 rig and GPU well within that budget...

A new Q9550, and a 6950 2GB come to $600 after taxes, shipping etc. If you bought used you may be able to get a new mobo, ram, cpu etc.

Not interested in buying anything used. I am going to replace the MB, CPU and RAM in sept. Resolution is 1920 X 1200.

My advice is get a GFX card to tide you over and wait for Bulldozer..

I was running on an AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (single core socket 939) until last September with no (very little) problems..
your box has some life in it yet and you'll get a better rig if you just patch up where that GFX card was..
Much depends on the resolution you game in.

6950/560ti and wait till new bits are out... then you can either get current stuff much much cheaper or get the new stuff.
And either sell the card you get now or pair them up in a new build (Nvidia would be my choice but thats just preference)
