The combo coming is 1090T + ASUS M4A785TD-EVO + Kingston HyperX Blu DDR3-1600 4GB

And he won't wait for BD. I told him about it, but he figures he's waited long enough. I already made him wait a couple months for Z68, to see if it was going to be a game changer. TBH, that combo and a SSD should make a very snappy system. It should be a big step up from the E8400/P35. (And I'm going to OC it before I turn it over to him. Sssshhhh)

How's the behavior of a SSD on an AMD chipset? Did they fix the TRIM issue?

Oh chit. Forgot about that. Well, I've got a Vertex 60GB that I might have to give up, the Indilinx drives have good ITGC. All it's doing is storing some singleplayer Steam games I'm not playing right now anyways. (I hate waiting for levels to load.)

What's the answer to this?

How would the new gen. (Llano/bulldozer?) factor into it?

I would have went with an older intel system (Sandybridge 1155) if AMD is still having issues. Why? Well, I prefer hardware that has the least or minimalist of issues so you have the most options.

Also, I think some 1155 hardware will be compatible with the ivybridge stuff? Still trying to confirm which ones, though.

I prefer the cheap/underdog but my research of current AMD stuff is lacking so if there's a problem with TRIM/SSDs, I thought might as well go with Intel for the next system since I can then stick a (used?) SSD with it someday if I want and not have to worry about whether GC or TRIM is working right.
