I don't know if this crapping on the thread but can you buy USB 3.0 brackets or boards if the mobo doesn't have the ports? It seems most motherboards only give you two ports (not sure you need more) but adds to the price.

Doesn't it suck that mobo manufacturers aren't switching over yet since USB 3.0 is backwards compatible (to 2.0)? Maybe it's just me being picky or whining... I'll accept either. ;-) As long as these questions are acceptable.

The problem is the you need to add host controllers as you add usb 3.0 which get to be expensive. PCH supports usb 2.0 natively so you dint need to add controllers until you add more than 14. This is why manufacturers dont just get rid of usb 2.0, high cost of the 3.0 controller chips. If a board doesnt offer usb 3.0 then there is nothing to connect a bracket to. If you take a look at that p8z68 review I just did you will see two chips like this that run 2 ports each.

I disagree Dan with the "go sb all the way" comment; Photoshop is a CPU whore and a ram magnet. The more, the merrier. AMD X6 is perfect for this application and budget.
Now if only Sugar would teach a few pointers to his Son about oc'ing, Life would be even better... =)

I saw a benchmark and the i5 2500 at stock still outperforms the 1055t in photoshop. I'll look for the benchmark.

To tell you the truth I would wait for Bulldozer. Worst case scenario prices drop and you are happier anyways.

Edit: if you have to buy right now SB all the way check this out
AnandTech - Bench - CPU
AnandTech - Bench - CPU

Even kicks the 1100t's ass

While I appreciate the wait for BD sentiment, I've been holding him off for 2 months already waiting to see if Z68 was a game changer. He's frustrated daily by his current machine and it's perceived limitations, so we're getting the best machine for his budget now.

JJThomp, if you do find that benchmark, a link would be appreciated.

Damn. Really? Ok, so it becomes a budget issue.
I'll have to run some benchmarks of my own since I have access to both chips.
Thanks for the heads-up JJ.
