That's why I said drop to a gtx 460. Taxes were included in the price. Sometimes ncix has free/cheap shipping or combos that come with free shipping for the entire order. Look for those too.

Even with a GTX 460 it's still over. And NCIX is still more expensive.

Find the lowest prices on the web (I use pricebat.ca) and then price match everything at NCIX

I've purchased about 10systems from ncix so far (well the components never got them to build it) but yeah, cool thing with NCIX other than pricematching is the fact that I don't need to pay the Quebec tax even if I ship to QC!

And I'm pretty damn sure a single gpu gaming system with a 6950 will cost under 1000$ if you don't go for a fancy SSD!

Guys, even with price match NCIX is still way too expensive. An i5 and a 6950 can't fit within my budget.

An i3 would fit. But I won't be able to upgrade until next year.

Budget + Intel = fail.

Don't waste your time there. Go with a nice little AMD setup that will be perfect for your needs and cost 1/2 as much. My entire PC could be bought brand new for under $1K including OS, keyboard, mouse and LCD with lots of change leftover.

NCIX collects taxes for all provinces now and has for some time.

X2 555BE that will hopefully unlock to quad $100
Decent AM3 mobo $100
Decent 8GB ram $100
Decent PSU $100
Decent case $100
Storage $100
Decent GPU $200

That's $800 and there's a TON of room to save if you go with less ram, a midrange $150 GPU and a cheaper $50-75 PSU. There are usually deals with free/reduced shipping if you look at NCIX.

Well the i3 seems to beat any Phenom II x4 in gaming. And it's cheaper.
