Lightbulb Budget Build Gaming Rig

Hey guys, I'm looking for your input on a build. I'm fairly new to all this PC building so please bare with me

1. I'll be using mainly for Photoshop, Reason 5, HD videos and for games like Portal 2, Starcraft 2, etc.. at max settings if possible.

2. My budget at most is $700-$800.

3. I'll be buying all my parts from memoryexpress.com CAD locally because I will be financing and not ordering online UNLESS it's a deal I cannot refuse even after shipping costs.

4. I don't have a brand preference.

5. The only parts I will already have is just the DVD drive.

6. I have found other threads but they were either too out of my price range or I wasn't able to find those parts at those prices locally.

7. I will not be overclocking.

8. I plan to build it as soon as possible since I don't have a desktop and I'm working on a laptop right now which needs to be sent in for fixing ASAP.

9. I will be using it on either my 19" monitor temporarily, but I will most likely be connecting it to my 32" HDTV later on which will have a 1366 x 768 native resolution.

Here is what I've gathered so far as to what to get... But I honestly barely know anything about PC building and input is appreciated . Also, I've been hearing good things about SSD, should I buy one now or can I just buy it later on when I have the money?

CPU Processor - AMD Phenom™ II X4 970 Black Edition 3.5GHz w/ 8MB Cache 134.99
Motherboard - Asus M4A785T-M w/ Radeon HD 4200 89.99
Computer Case - ANTEC Nine Hundred Advanced Gamer Case - $89.99 or $69.99 after rebate
Power Supply - Antec EarthWatts 430W Power Supply 49.99
Hard Drive - Western Digital 500GB Caviar Black 7200rpm SATA II w/ 32MB Cache 44.99
Memory - Kingston HyperX blu 4GB DDR3-1333MHz CL9 DIMM 47.99
Video Card - ????? Opinions needed.

Sub-Total with out video card and Rebate = 457.94

Thanks so much in advance!

how about going with a 2500k build? check ncix bundle specials
if the prices at memxpress are higher
6950 for gpu
that earthwatts will be ok for single card, not much of an oc.
haf 912 for case
corsair, gskill for ram.4 gig is fine

ps welcome aboard

Thanks!

At first I was looking at the 2500k, but I wasn't so sure about the price. The motherboard for the 2500k bundle on NCIX doesn't have a HDMI port :/. Also, does it matter what brand of the 6950 GPU I buy or is it all the same?

well,if you wont be overclocking, then get an h6x mobo with a 2400 or 2500 cpu.
so you can use onboard too if you like
well, there is reference and non reference. traditionally, only the sticker price and warranty
differs for the first. 1gb model if youll be using one janitor only.

I am some1 who strongly believes in AM3 for a budget gaming PC, heck my own PC is AM3 based even if I went for SLI (SLI on an AMD system isnt the best), but buying the 970 is retarded imo. pretty much all deneb chips are identical and just clocked at different speeds by factory...I know you don't want to OC but basically thats the only difference between a 955 and a 970 for nearly 2x the price! Not only doesn't AMD specially bread these higher end chips but they are not even binned that differently, its as if the same speakers were sold under 2 different names one costing 2x the price of the other for "louder volume" but only difference between the two was that the volume knob was turned higher on the more expensive one b4 put in a box for sale!
