My System Specs

Default future build, high-end. 3.2k

hey guys going to build a high-end system in about 8 months. build cost is max at $3200.
its going to be used for gaming mostly, HD recording and playback, TV playback and recording - and i guess any other general day-to-day activities :P.
i will be buying from pccasegear.com, which resides in australia.
brands i favour over others, intel, corsair, ASUS probably others but they're my most favourite.
going to OC hopefully above 4.5ghz, watercooling the cpu and gpu's.
res is played @ 1920x1080 atm, although with the two gpu's going to upgrade to two screens probably.
again this is a future build so changes are expected. i already own the HDD's/SSD's and one HD6970 which i will use.

MOBO - ASUS maximus IV extreme $469

CPU - i7 2600k $369

case - corsair 800D $379

GPU - ASUS HD6970 - $450 (buying off ebay as its the only place i can get the non-CU II version) i already own one of these, so can anyone suggest if theres a better cheaper way of getting more graphical performance than two X-fired 6970's?

RAM - i already own 6gb of 1600mhz cl9 vengeance ram, anyone suggest better ram or should i just keep this ram?

monitor - this is still in the works but i already own a BENQ GL2430 24" monitor so ill just buy one of those again for eyefinity.

PSU - gonna go with the silverstone 1500W, but looking at the new OCZ ZX 1250W.

my watercooling parts thread is in the watercooling section.
any and all help is much appreciated, need help with what fans to buy and use aswell. and still un-decided as to which colour scheme to go with :P

in 8 months you will have ivy bridge on the menu i think.

down under prices are scary, even compared to cana da.

stay with one for now.gpu wise.

wayyy overkill on the psu. how about an hx850? md12?

oh very good forgot about ivy :P
yeah everything is seriously overpriced here, and thats one of the cheapest sites in australia hahaha
yeah wasnt sure for the gpu, although the 6970 plays games excellent just want that bit of extra power because in some intense fights or gameplay it gets choppy but only for a few seconds.
ohhh i was just giving myself headroom wasnt sure about how much power the watercooling was gonna use, even better though already have an AX850 :D

i wouldn't upgrade to a 2600k since you have a 950 id wait till ivy bridge and even when it comes out i wouldn't buy the very first ivy bridge cpu that comes out

or,as mr sev pointed out, forget about the cpu upgrade and focus on gpu power?

still, maybe get another 6970 but i wouldnt. maybe a used nv for physx where needed?

@sev : i wouldn't doubt the cpus, maybe the mobos,like the rev b's failsauce.

;P the only reason i said to wait for the second ivy bridge cpu's (in my case anyways) I get the jealousy bug and feel the need to upgrade for no apparent reason.

In 8 months you'll want to get rid of that 6970. Make a budget system around the 6970 now and save your money for next Christmas. There will be Seasonic platinum PSUs, Radeon HD 79xx, more IPS monitors @1920x1200, Lian Li Aluminum watercooling ready Cases, cheaper OCZ Vertex 3 SSDs, and Intel Sandy Bridge-E.
