I went through 4 2600ks myself.

First 3 had problematic memory controllers and the 4th worked fine.

>.> they were called those colours because that's what they made the room they were in glow with the massive amount of cathode tubes and led fans i put in them o_O this ones gonna be green (: who needs lights during the night when your computers can light up the entire room they're in. I'm going to NCIX today this really bugged me i assembled the computer powered on but wait my monitor kept saying no signal tried a different monitor then tried a different video card. the PCIE slots don't detect a video card in them apparently and i tried the 2600k in a friends motherboard and it caused BSOD's everywhere so hopefully NCIX isn't anal about exchanging the stuff.

Could it be that the CPU is damaged from static?

Everything is capable of being done by static.. but CPUs are very strong these days and no I haven't heard of faulty cpus in years... but like I said.. I had 3 2600ks come through my shop that ALL shared the exact symptoms so faulty CPUs are totally possible.
