No interest in going Sandy Bridge? I picked up a 2500k and MSI P67-G43 for $300 on NCIX's last sale. Also got a $20 rebate and Shogun 2 with the combo deal. I see people paying ~$400 for a used P55 board and chip and it makes me scratch my head. To be fair, the boards are usually higher-end than the MSI P67-G43 when cross-comparing platforms. Still, I'd rather have higher performance for less.

Are you sure there isn't something wrong with your 5970 setup? The X4 965 really isn't that much faster than the Q6600. Have you tried overclocking the Q6600 further, or is that the max?

meh, leave it be. dont kill it before you have a replacement :)

also, its easier to not max out amd dual core cards vs nv(talking about the gtx590) where you need to cranck you sb to 5ghz lol.

how come ? Ati Dual GPU are easier to run than nvidia ?

and the replacement for the Q6600 is gonna be the i7 950 Oc'ed so i know the 5970 will have enough to not bottleneck

looks like the 590 needs a beast of a cpu,not to be bottlenecked...thats what that one guy stated in the lab51.ro 590 review
and it makes sense. curious why the ati dual wasnt as cpu needy though....

either way youll be fine on that 1366 platform.
