Default New Mobo & Ram Advice Needed

Now that I've collected my RMA, 2x rebates and sold my PSU I'm sitting with $210 in my pocket and it's burning a hole fast.

Can anyone recommend a new motherboard & Ram to go along with my 965BE C3 & 5770? My current motherboard is DDR2 and I will not be replacing it. I haven't a clue in what I'm doing with DDR3 :S

I intend to overclock so a decent set of ram to match my cpu would be key. 8GB preferred but I'm sure 4gb should suffice. I'll give an overhead of ~$50 on my allowance if needed. :)

Thanks in advance for any tips! :)

any solid 870 and up will do nicely, you dont need much besides some decent componentry. giga,asus,msi(gd65 and up) will serve you well :)

edit : gskill or whatever you like for ram, 1600 a plenty. just dont get something with 3 foot tall hs :p

No issues with the Ripjaws and AMD? Especially in the 1600?

3 foot tall HS isn't an issue as it's going in my 800D with watercooling. Plenty of space ;) LoL

I'll do a bit more research and see what I come up with.

Keeping my fingers crossed that NCIX will have a nice 890FX/GX board on sale this week ;)

Hmmm... I can't seem to find an answer but would the FX have better OC capabilities over the GX?

Onboard is nice as a backup... but with GPU's being so cheap, it isn't really necessary.

in theory and practicality yes, if you are aiming for the last drop. if.
given the bios/componentry are similar.

the difference isn't OC'ing ability exactly, but more about PCI Lanes; the GX has 22 lanes where the FX has 32

Ended up grabbing an Asus M4A89GTD/USB3 Pro & 2x 4GB Ripjaws X DDR3-1600. Couldn't justify the extra for the FX as I may be looking to upgrade again when BD comes out. :)
