Default MythTV HTPC build -is PSU ok?

Just looking for any thoughts on this sub-$700 HTPC build to be used for handling OTA TV via MythTV. Realize it's not an HTPC case, but it's a small tower and a good price. Still need to find a good IR remote that works well with MythTV. Looking to buy in the next week or so.

I'm not 100% sure about whether the PSU is strong enough so really need input there. (one day it'd be great if a site like NCIX had enough info in it's database to make PSU suggestions. :) )

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-M68M-S2P mATX AM2+
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 250 Dual Core Processor Socket AM3 3.0GHZ 2MB L2 Cache 65W Retail Box

Case: Coolermaster Elite 342 Black M-ATX Mid Tower Case 2X5.25 5X3.5INT 1X3.5EXT No PSU
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CMPSU-430CX 430W ATX Power Supply Active PFC 120MM Fan
DVD: Liteon IHAS124 24X DVD Writer SATA Black OEM
Video: ASUS GeForce GT 430 700MHZ 1GB 1.6GHZ GDDR3 PCI-E DVI VGA HDMI Low Profile Video Card

Thanks and have a great weekend.

hmm...try to get the 400, and yeah itll be more than enough. you wont bereak 175 watts

you could also give h55 a try you know, smal ldifference in price. of course itll need ddr3.

the gt430 might be too much for it. im thinking the onboard gpu could handle videos well enough.

I have a HTPC. I run WMC with MyMovies 3 plugin and a few others. Here are my thoughts on what you need based off of 2 years of tinkering. It is all about silence with a HTPC. You want a fanless video card , PSU and CPU cooler. get the lowest watt CPU you can, I think the one you have is fine. You only need 2 Gigs of ram...spend the money somewhere else. A good CPU cooler with no fan (tower type) case fan will cool the cpu. There are quite a few video cards whith fans that are very quiet...but fanless is the best. Fanless PSu are out there. You won't need much power for this system anyway. Don't forget a cooler for the HD. It will work failry hard and need cooling. I know I didn't answer you question...450 watts would be lots. Onboard video is not a great idea for HTPC...you may want to add a bluray or play dvds later...the vid card will be beat at handeling that.

+1

I have two of the 400's and one of the 430's and prefer the 400's. Not much difference really but the 400 is a little bit more quiet. Well the 400's are silent and I can just barely hear the 430 but I'm really anal about sound from HTPC's.

Looking at some of the MythTV info, I see that 4GB might be overkill.

Just curious looking at the memory list and trying to see what 1 gig sticks would work to make 2 gig.

Is the KHX8500D2/1G listed in http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList...-s2p_v.2.3.pdf the same as the Kingston HyperX KHX8500D2K2/2G I see listed on some sales sites?
