I am going to build a vm workstation/storage with raid 5 in a ft02.
I haven't decided on which platform to build upon but I am think I will need a raid card. I added 4 CP05 hotswap adapters and I plan on adding the
CFP52B but I don't know if it will fit. Can anyone confirm?
As for the RAID, can anyone make suggestions on the which raid card and hard drives? I was thinking at least 1.5 or 2 TB disks.
The OS will be on a SSD obviously. The brand and size is still also undecided. Probably a 35nm ocz vertex 2.
Super Mega or NH-C14? The Super Mega is harder to find...
update: I've decided to go with the crosshair iv formula + 1090t. As for the raid, the crosshair has raid 5 built in so I will be using that. The drives will be used to store movies and tv shows and maybe music. Is it worth having WD blues over the greens?
The raid setup will probably be 3/4/5 2TB drives depending on my budget. 3 or 4 drives + 0 or 1 hot backups just in case one of the drives dies.
update2: It seems wd consumer drives won't work with well with raid. I will have to reconsider my raid setup for a JBOD
