Default A build for animation and 1080p60 video playback

Just wondering what factor is important to get to play a 1080p60 video smoothly..
I have tried to play on a moderate DELL and Lenovo laptop that have 7200rpm hdd and i7 with 4gb with a basic graphics card.. but yet a 1080p60 video wont playback smoothly..
i have been able to successfully play the same video on a 2 year old hp business laptop though..

so inviting your inputs on how to choose components to get to build a system that can play a 1080p60 video smoothly and also has enough power for running 3D apps.

howdy and welcome.

well, any modern cpu, dual and up,should play a 1080p video ok.

video wise, any card made in the last couple years should be fine too.
the onboard video on intel cpus is fine too, as is the onboard amd graphics
on 8-9 series boards.
try the cccp codec pack. comes with media player classic updated.

more details on the video might help.

ps one could get coreavc? it helps offloading the mkv or whatever
to the gpu(cuda) or helps the cpu a LOT

This was what i had assumed earlier.. but not sure why it doesnt playback on an i7 DELL...

Here are some sample links i found on the internet.. could you try it out on one of your machines ?

The only software that played the 1080p60 footage flawlessly on the HP laptop was Splash Lite from Mirillis.. but even splash lite stuttered during playback on the i7...

my first thought is: are you plugged in while playing back these videos?

codec packs are so useless.. but try it anyways, as suggested.

Which media player are you using? I've read about some people with older nvidia GPU's encountering issues with accelerated 1080p60 playback.

^ yeah that would be the next thing, that i7 should be able to handle decoding 1080 with little issue.

one step at a time though :P

Hmmm try messing around with your power settings... I'm using a HP G60 hunk of crap AMD 64 x2 @2.1 ghz and nvidia integrated 8200m chipset and I run 1080p60 super smooth unless I'm on power saver settings.
