2000$ Budget Comp, Help please

Well i'm building a computer for my friend and he has a budget of 2000$ he's mostly going to be gaming alot, at 1920x1080 reso and he'll need a mouse/keyboard, he has an operating system, input would be great lol, im not exactly sure what to get for him and please don't say " you can build an awsome computer for 1000$" or anything like that cause he wants to spend 2g lol , any input would be great thx ;D

you dont need to spend 2k to game at 1920.

start with your pick of p57 mobo(or wait till they come out wit b3 fixes) and a 2500k
8 gigs of ram if running 64 bit. one gtx 580 or one 6950 and unlock or not unlock.

ssd of your choice for mains, a nice 2tb green for storage etc.

case wise haf 912 and up. psu m12d...xfx 850 watter just in case another card or so

will be added lately. take it from there

for 2k this is what id suggest:

2 x MSI GTX 560 OC Twin frozer or GTX 580 or 2 x 6870s or a 6970
i7 930
Corsair AX750
Gigabyte x58a-UD3R board
6gb corsair dominator 1600mhz (really thats just the first i found for a decent price lol, im pretty sure ddr3 1600 is pretty much the same across the board)
2 x WD black 1TB
2TB WD green for backup
Dvd Drive

That comes to roughly 1725 before shipping tax and before price match. The case itself is purely up to the buyer and what they want to spend so that would have to be lumped into this as well. Also if there is going to be overclocking then an aftermarket cooler will have to be factored in as well, and then parts would have to be swapped out for different ones to maintain budget.

Total: ~$1850 before tax. With tax, it should be right around $2000!

Assuming your friend can't wait for the Sandy fix, I went with the i7-950/X58 generation. It's still a great performer and is a mature platform. Also, the SSD is expensive and I know you can switch with an OCZ Vertex 2, but apparently they're shipping a mix of the old (and better) 34nm Vertex 2's with the new (slower) 25nm drives with the same tag. It's like playing the lottery. For storage, your buddy can go with green drives if he wants, but I'm just playing it safe/giving you room for change. I'm also assuming he wants a gaming mouse/keyboard. I recommend the Razer Deathadder mouse and one of the Logitech G series keyboards, though mechanical keyboards seem to be the rage now. I also added a wireless card just in case. If he doesn't need one, I recommend allocating the money towards a better/larger SSD. I know 2 6950's will outperform 2 GTX 570's in 5760x1080 (8XAA) as well, but at least with Nvidia he will have the option of playing in 3D down the road. Again, no preferences or sides being taken.

I think what Dang is saying is that for $2000, you can afford 400 to $600 worth of graphics card(s) that will perform on resolutions higher than 1080P. For 1080P 250 to $350 worth of GPU is enough.

How PC-literate is your friend? would he like a SSD for OS? Does he want an Upgrade-friendly PC? over-clock? Big full tower case or compact?
