Buying this Weekend. Help please.

After building a pc for my buddy, now another one wants one. He will mostly be using it for WOW, SC2 and probably other games as well, also Light homework. This is what I came up with, what do you think? Please any info would be helpful, thanks. I have to get all the parts from Memoryexpress.com, please keep that in mind, thanks.

how about a cm 922?

you can get cheaper/more ram for that price.

get one black or f3 if in stock, maybe a 2tb for storage? but that can come later

expensive rw, you should find cheaper

good psu, older design though.

maybe something newer, like hx? gonna be more expensive though.

i wouldnt get a quad in 1156 form, a cheap duallie like 530/540 and clock it well? yeah.

or wait till the 1155 fiasco is solved, or find a board elsewhere and get the 2500k.

How hard would it be to overclock an i3 540? Do I need to buy some software or anything or can I just do it in the bios of that Gigabyte motherboard you showed? Thanks.

_dangtx_ February 4, 2011 07:15 PM

really easy. if you go for the 'better' boards like ud3/4 or the msi gd65 itll be a breeze.

i repeat myself lol, but 1156 is for i3' cpus on a budget. and once clocked itll be a little monster.

sky has posted a review last year i believe...

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...review-14.html

you need more? 1155, andyou find a board.

no inbetween. unles you find a super cheap i5 760 but even then, bang per buck the i3's do a killing

i always tell people, take it easy now if you dont need all the cpu hp in the world, investing

250 dollars in board + cpu vs more means down the road you can yank it out with less remorse lol

spikexp February 4, 2011 07:24 PM

You can have a Phenom II x4 955 + gigabyte 870a-ud3 for 230$.

IMHO, this is the most boring time in computer history for the past few years...freakin Intel screw-up...
AMD Bulldozer not out yet...

Anyway, I'd take the GTX570 over the HD6950 ANY DAY...570 is quieter and equivalent to HD6970....

MSI GTX570 for $299 on sale at NCIX....(3 years warranty, RMA in CANADA), and a $20 MIR on top of that...I think it comes with the game JUST CAUSE 2...and MAFIA II
