your cpu will be a bit of a bottleneck, but do get one 6950 or 6850 depending on games/resolution/quality settings used :)

wait till the 'flawed' mobo thing passes by, wait for dozer, then when prices are down make your pcik

can you live with tunnel vision?

I want to say, "once you go <eyeinfinity>. you never go back!".

So, I threw them both into my case, put on a single bridge. I am getting terrible fps, better with just a single card (CF off).

in Rifts I am getting getting 20-30 frames 1080p with 6950 CF. I am running an e8400 clockrd at 4ghz now (was 3.8ghz for last beta).

My wife gets 70 -90 frames 1080p on ultra with a gtx 460 single, I believe she is on a quad core phenom 2.

Just ran a few other games and I think this isnt a trion problem

New starting area eq2 (max settings) 7 - 18 fps
Oblivion (first dungeon after leaving jail) 30-70 fps

I ran the same games with a single card

eq2 30-40 frames (when viewing water) 70 -90 with back turned to water
oblivion 75 - 110 fps

So maybe I am failing at crossfire, do I need two bridges instead of one? Wondering if I should just send a card back.

Use one bridge and make sure it's the one closest to the IO panel. Otherwise I'm guessing it's a software issue maybe flash your Bios.

I hate to ask these questions as they are the most basic things that most people will always do... but if you forget, they are the easiest to try:

PCIe lanes on your mobo, you're using them such that you get fastest speeds? (if one card is on a 4x lane, your setup is crippled to 4x)
Drivers update (like you wouldn't have recent drivers...) try one version previous to the newest? Try both?
Everything is nice and tight? Fitted/snapped in?

Is your FPS for single card mode as good as it's supposed to be? (I don't know benches for those games)
Did you try both cards in single mode to see if just one card is crippling the setup?
I use SLI, so it may be different, but you do need to enable multi-card performance in the drivers control panel and you only use a single connector for 2-way setup.
