My New Sandy Build...

Hello Everyone,

Please let me know what you think of this rig. I did not add a video card as i will not be able to use it until March and i am hoping that they release the GTX585 or 6990 before then. I dont plan on using crossfire or SLI because i play WOW and it is does not play nice with 2 cards.

Any advice would be great.

I will be buying from ither Memoryexpress in Calgary or NCIX.

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

Gaming 99% of the time and some office stuff after that.

I like Intel for chips and Asus for the hardware. I dont really care about GPU's. The best is the best when it comes to them.

I have read this and many other reviews and forum posts about my build.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

I plan to overclock the CPU and Memory.

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?

March but if the prices are right i will by the parts before then and just build it when i get back from work.

9. What resolution do you use?

Do you think the 750 is a little small for one card?

Is silence important to you? Like a silent case and cpu cooler? Because you could probably get better performing things than the R3 and H70. Just something to think about. Also, if your spending all that money for something 99% gaming oritented look into a gaming mouse... you can find the cm sentinel for $35-40 on sale sometimes or a logitech g9x for a fair price second hand in BST or somewhere if you don't want to spend too much on a mouse. Switching from a low DPI optical to a high DPI gaming grade laser makes a world of difference.

Need a card fore build. ?

The cards your thinking about will likely need two 8 pinns or more.
I have a 650 and am feeling limited to what I can do without an upgrade.
A little more than you need doesn't hurt not enugh is differnt story.
Fore what you specked your fine and fore lots more drives fine to.
Sany uses less power than my 920 ( powerhog )

In the spec for the PSU it says ther are 2 8 pin plugs. Man i hope this PSU is going to be enough, if not hello GTX580 :(

A 750 would be just fine for running a pair of nice cards.
Though I am going to correct something for you, running multi cards works just perfectly in WoW mate. There is nothing wrong (minus whatever Bliz likes to screw with in their graphics coding), with SLI or X-fire in that game or any others. So never rule out twin cards.

From everything i have ever read about SLI and WoW, is that WOW will only use one card and the other just sits there adding nothing to the performance of the game. maybe the articles i have read are very old...

Since WoW has been introduced, I've been running it on Multi Cards in either SLI or X-fire.
Never had an issue since SLI and such are handled on the hardware level.
Although there are time when bad drivers and/or bad coding on Blizzards Behalf have caused numerous issues. Beyond that everything has worked soundly for me.

I run it on an SLI'd pair of 460's. Works like a charm
