Well...i'm putting a lot of pressure on myself to move this along. It'll drive me crazy if i'm thinking about this over the holidays.
So below is everything i've added to the NICX shopping cart...and i've chickened out and opting for their $50 build of the thing.
Given the weight of the cpu fan...it's a good thing it is "pick-up"...although getting out to Markham will cost me another $50 or so as I don't own a vehicle. lol (just virtual cars please) :) Perhaps i'll find a way to get a friend to help me there.
There are several items out of stock. I'll be pessimistic and assume it may take 6 weeks for some to arrive. I really have no idea.
The Steelseries headphones i'll order elsewhere. ($200?)

curios, why not an intel for that? If im going to drop that kinda coin on a top end system like that I wouldnt even begin to contemplate an AMD.

The monitor is an excellent choice, Ive had mine for a while now and couldnt be happier with it.

Just my opinion was all.

With AMD...i'm basically supporting the underdog. Without a competitor for Intel...we would not have the cpu speeds we do today. I remember when those two first started to compete...faster speeds were produced more frequently. The end-user benefited.
Somebody has to support the competition, or we all lose.

Glad to hear about the monitor. Thanks. :)

Wait...why aren't you price matching? Those prices are ridiculous.

I'd drop the 180GB SSD and grab these two instead (or maybe 1):
Corsair Force Series Solid State Drive, 120GB at Memory Express Computers
With racing games, I seriously doubt you'll care that much about loading times. It doesn't really matter.

Save $8 on the mouse
Razer Mouse RZ01-00170500-R3U1 Lachesis 5600dpi Laser Gaming Mouse Retail RZ01-00170500-R3U1

$6 on CPU
Buy AMD [HDT90ZFBGRBOX] AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 6 Core Processor 3.2GHZ Socket AM3 Retail Box

$5 on keyboard
Razer Keyboard RZ03-00390100-R3U1 Gaming BlackWidow Mechanical USB Black RTL RZ03-00390100-R3U1

$30 per RAM kit - save $60 for 2
Buy CORSAIR [CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9] Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Dual Channel Memory Kit

$28 per monitor - save ~$90 for 3

$27 on HDD
Buy Seagate [ST32000641AS] Seagate Barracuda XT 7200.12 2TB SATA 6.0GB/S 3.5IN 8.5MS 64MB Hard Drive OEM

*important* You only have 1 6870...those are slow for $290. Get yourself a 6950 at the minimum.

Drop the Crosshair Extreme and get the formula version...save yourself $80.

Save $20 on V6GT
Buy COOLERMASTER [RR-V6GT-22PK-R1 ] Coolermaster V6GT CPU Heatsink Cooler LGA775/LGA1156/LGA1366/AM3 2x 120MM PWM Fans 800-2200RPM

After price matching, you'll save yourself $216. $296 if you drop down to a Crosshair IV Formula...but add on $20 to upgrade yourself to a 6950. So in the end, $276 savings...

Thanks. :) That's what i've been doing the past hour or so. Got it down to $3346.96.
And thanks regarding the 6870. It was supposed to be a 6970!
I watched a video on the Crosshair formula and the guy was filing it down. Some issue with the northbridge.
And their not letting my price match the cpu. No biggie though. Things are shaping up here.
Does anyone know if I log out of NCIX...will my shopping cart choices and price matching stay there if I don't buy? Or will I have to do it all over again.

It should be saved as long as you don't clear cache/cookies. Can't PM CPU because they're giving you a game.

With regards to the motherboard, is it a problem for you or just him? Link to it please? Percentage wise, there's more people complaining about the Extreme on newegg than the Formula.

So...correction, that is now a:

Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E 2XDVI HDMI 2x Mini DisplayPort Video Card @ $389.99
And thier advertising this as a special...but Newegg.ca has it for 369...and price matching is not allowed for it.
So the new total is...$3456.67 (3691.84 before price match)

Payment has been accepted by NCIX...so now...I wait. (less anxiety than yesterday...but very excited)

To complete this Eyefinity setup there's still a few loose ends.
A table from Ikea to put all those monitors on.
I will wait to see if the angle is right with the monitors on the table...and me sitting in the cockpit, but i'm expecting to buy a 3 monitor stand so I have easier tilt control when changing from desk use, to cockpit use.
Today I will look at some lighting mods in some stores like FrozenCPU and Heatsink Factory in Rochester.
Just purchased the Steelseries Siberia V2 USB 7.1 headset from their online store for $100.
I'm not sure about the fan controller in the front bay. Most that I like...would have movement on them...which would annoy me seeing it in my peripheral vision. Does anyone know of there's a software controller I could get? Maybe the mobo has it? I just want to be able to crank down the speed when i'm not gaming...so it isn't as loud. (but i'm getting ahead of myself...I have no idea how loud it will be anyways)

Could have saved another $160 by getting just 8GB of RAM. Anyone thinking of using the above as a guide would be good to heed the advice of those in this thread...and just get 8 instead of the 16 I got.
There are other 2ms monitors out there that are cheaper. So you could probably save another $200 there.
Windows 7 Home instead. Cheaper mobo...lots of ways to save.

This wasn't a very practical purchase. That's because it's been 15 years since i've had a computer built for me. I've invested a lot of time in racing. And next year I turn 50. So this is a "treat" for me. I love computers and spend a lot of time on them. So going a little further with the monitors made sense. Buying the additional racing toys made sense to me...but aren't necessary for having a lot of fun racing. And doing some lighting on this at a later time...that again is a treat to have some fun with...and do something i've wanted for a long time.

I hope that this is inspiring in a way for some. I'm biased but...even though 50 really isn't "old"...lol...if anyone out there thinks they are getting old and this kind of thing is therefore inappropriate...it is not. If you like it, do it. You may have to wait a few years to do it...but it's really a matter of balancing it with any other responsibilities you have in your life so it doesn't put a strain on everything else you do.
And financially speaking...i'm taking on a lot of debt for my salary...and during a bad economy, which seems a little crazy. But to put it in perspective. My TV is a 30" used crt from my brother, and I purchase no television services. I do not own a vehicle. I don't take expensive vacations. I don't order take-out food or go to restaurants more the 6 times a year. I don't rent movies. I don't own a handheld. So without those expenses that many people insist on having...it becomes much more easier for me to pay this debt off. I should be able to do it in a year and a half without it hurting the other things I do.
My other great expense is having Bell's Fibe 25.

Anyways...i'm great at giving out too much information. But I don't want to be encouraging people to go in to debt for an over-priced machine. It's all about balance people. It's all about balance. lol

Thanks for the compliment. Perhaps I should write something up about my experience shopping online for this. So much info. And...i've got a long road ahead setting up just one game...let alone many. I'll probably get lost for days just looking/creating gigantic wallpaper for this beast. lol

Anyways...my account should allow you to contact via email if necessary. Feel free.

However, like you...I found it elsewhere: (your pick is the best price at $251.22)
Eagle Distribution - Product Detail $265
ErgoTech Triple LCD Desk Stand 100-D16-B03 $299

I also spent a lot of time scanning the specs of the monitors I was looking at...to make sure they had a wall mount. My first pick was a Samsung...and I realized it didn't have one. Some monitors don't have removable stand...or part of the stand is still there and hangs below the bottom of the screen.

The standards for these displays was either 75mm or 100mm spaced holes.
All the other monitors I looked at had 100mm spacing. Very few didn't have a wall mount.

...also...i'm concerned that the extra weight of this stand, along with the monitors, will make the Ikea table i'm looking at bow. Just one more uncertainty that's making this so difficult to plan for. If I go for a stronger wooden table it will cost a lot more. A metal table can be had for much less...but looks like crap. Not certain what i'll do at the moment.
