Default Computer upgrade and HTPC from recycled parts

I'm currently running a q6600 with 6gb of ram, and I'm looking to build an HTPC. I'm thinking I'll reuse the q6600 for my HTPC and some of the ram (sell the 755 mobo/extra ram) and upgrade to an 1156 processor/mobo/ddr3 ram for my main.

I'd like to keep costs as low as possible, and I'd like to overclock whatever 1156 setup I end up with. My main is water cooled, so no problem with heat from the OC. My main is used mostly for gaming and web/application development, which sometimes involves running a virtual machine as well. Some minor editing with photoshop too. I don't have any plans to SLI right now, but I might in the future. I currently have a 1gb 460.

Will the following HTPC setup be able to play HD video without any problems? I won't be getting a bluray, so all video will be stored on the HD, or on a computer on my home network.

Parts for my HTPC:

CPU: q6600 (have)
Ram 2gb (have...and will 2 gb be enough for win7/xbmc, or should I go with 4?)

Mobo: ASUS P5N7A-VM
Newegg.ca - ASUS P5N7A-VM LGA 775 NVIDIA GeForce 9300/nForce 730i HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Case:
Silverstone Sugo or Silverstone Grandia 05B (depends where the htpc will end up)
NCIX.com - Buy Silverstone Sugo SG02B-F Black SFF mATX Case 2X5.25 2X3.5INT No PS - SG02B-F In Canada.
NCIX.com - Buy Silverstone Grandia GD05B Black HTPC mATX Desktop Case 1X5.25 2X3.5INT 1X2.5INT 3X120MM Fan No PS - GD05B In Canada.

HD:
WD 1TB Blue.

PSU:
Corsair 430CX
NCIX.com - Buy Corsair Builder Series CMPSU-430CX 430W ATX Power Supply Active PFC 120MM Fan *2 Year Warranty* - CMPSU-430CX In Canada.

After all this is pricematched it comes to about $389. Mobo is hte only thing not coming from NCIX, but there's free shipping, so its not a big deal.

For my new build:
4GB of G.Skill ram
NCIX.com - Buy G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL Ripjaws PC3-12800 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Core i5 1.5V Memory Kit - F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL In Canada.

CPU:
i3 540 (cheaper than 530 right now), unless there is a good reason to go with another cpu?

Motherboard:
Something in the $150 price range, unless it's overkill. Keep in mind, I would like to OC.
NCIX.com - Buy MSI P55A-G55 P55 ATX LGA1156 DDR3 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 3PCI SLI CrossFireX SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard - P55A-G55 In Canada.
NCIX.com - Buy Gigabyte P55A-UD3 ATX LGA1156 P55 DDR3 2PCI-E 2PCI RAID GBLAN CrossFireX USB3.0 SATA3 Motherboard - GA-P55A-UD3 In Canada.
NCIX.com - Buy MSI P55A-GD65 P55 ATX LGA1156 DDR3 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 2PCI CrossFireX SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard - P55A-GD65 In Canada.

Thanks for any input.

Nah, go with 4, I did almost exactly what you did and was told 2GB will not be enough for Win7.
Good choice on the new RAM, and I suppose that CPU should be good (OC IT!) What's your price range?

Alright, I'll be going with 4gb then. Thanks.

Overall price range, I'm hoping to be under or around $650 before tax. But if theres really good reason to spend more, I'd consider it.

The new parts I need for the HTP should cost roughly $300 (65 for case, 60 for HD, 45 for PSU, 130 for mobo)

For the upgrades for my main, I'll be looking at another $300-350.
150 for a mobo (recommendations are welcome...not sure what the best for OCing is at that range.)
120 for cpu if i get i3 540. Is there any value in getting an i5, or will a well oc'd i3 be good?
60 bucks or so for 4gb of ram.

Why buy a new motherboard for the HTPC? Is the one you have currently broken? If not, I say just re-use it and toss a cheap GPU in there like a HD4350 or GT210.

Current motherboard (XFX 680i LT) is an ATX one and wont fit in either of the htpc cases. I'll either sell it or re-purpose it for something else.

Yeah, that i3 OC'ed nicely will do you good.
First board instinct would be the Sabertooth 55i. DOn't know if that's too much.
This guy here is on sale for a good price.
Or maybe this

Definitely get G.SKILL RAM at that price.
