Default Cross-Check before I finalize my order!!!

Hey Guys,

I'm going to purchase today! Please let me know if there are any items on this list that I should avoid, and the general quality of this build for around $1000. Want to be able to play SC2, Civ 5 and Diablo III when it comes out, other than that nothing should be too resource intensive.

Case - Antec 300
PS - Seasonic S12II 620W EPS12V 20/24PIN ATX Power Supply Active PFC 80+ Bronze 6+8PIN PCI-E W/ 120MM Fan
Mobo - Gigabyte H55M-USB3 mATX LGA1156 H55 DDR3 1PCI-E16 1PCI-E4 2PCI HDMI Sound GBLAN USB3.0 Motherboard
CPU - i5 760
Heatsink - CoolerMaster Hyper 212
Video - XFX Radeon HD 5770 850MHZ 1GB 4.8GHZ GDDR5 2XDVI HDMI Display Port DIRECTX11 PCI-E2.0
HDs - Kingston 64gb SSD and Seagat 1TB
RAM - G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL Ripjaws PC3-12800 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Core i5 1.5V Memory Kit

Any advice is appreciated... I think it's a solid build for $1000, let me know!

Looking nice to me. The case is a bit old but if you like the look go for it. If you are open on a case I would try to see for CM 6902 basic or NZXT BETA EVO or CM 430 which are more recent case.

I've done a lot of reading on cases. I like the fact that it's super plain (much like flames on a car I find lighting in a computer lame) and I like the thickness of the case. I know the cable management can be a pain, but its a pretty basic build so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

I will however check those cases out because I like knowing what's out there.

Looks solid. If you have a few extra dollars I would grab a 460 768mb or 1gb, but if not the 5770 should run those games no problem (as long as you don't use really high resolutions). Nice choices.

EDIT: I am the same way about cases and think the 300 is a great case for the price (I have one and you already know its main flaw).

dangtx, NCIX had a bundle deal that was over 30% off on that PSU. I'd be getting it for about $65... otherwise I wouldn't haha.

Bond007, you mentioned spending a bit extra on a 460... can you or anyone else elaborate on the major advantages of these cards compared to the 5770??

Thanks guys! I will document the build... should provide some good insight for people keeping it simple.

EDIT: I just remembered that on NCIX, the XFX 5770 has a $40 IR and 20 mail-in... I think that's what originally was driving my decision.

A 460 1GB will ( at high res ) at 1200, give more juice then a 5770. But, as long as you keep the screen around at a 1080 res you will be fine with both card. Especially if you want to play D3 which will be a pretty light game...In your situation I see no point of a 460 since the price difference can be pretty huge, a 5770 can be add for around 160 and a 460 1GB around 250.

basically the 460 oc'ed will handle better than the 5770.

65 is a very nice deal, good for future upgrades.

Smile New Builds

I would consider the OCZ Vertex II SSD over the kingston. Better drive. +1 4 the 460, though the deal sounds sweet 4 the 5770. Looks like a good build.
