Default Speaker for motherboard

First let me apologize for asking this dumb question but I have been trying to gather lots of info for my first build and I read that it is a good idea to have a speaker when you power up your board so you can hear the error beeps if it comes to that. As far as I can tell the MB doesn't have a built in speaker and the case doesn't have a speaker (Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R and Cooler Master HAF X). I looked at newegg and tigerdirect for what I expect to be a cheap speaker with a wire and clip to plug into the motherboard but didn't see any at either site. So either I am missing something or I am mis-understanding something. Thanks.

This is a close as I could get motherboard speaker - Google Product Search , but those are all US retailers. I was unable to find any Canadian sources. Might be worthwhile to put a product request in at NCIX and maybe they'll get some stock in. (Seems silly that they don't already carry it).

Thanks!

As cheap as they are I would expect the MB maker or the case maker to include it but I can't seem to find any documentation that it comes with either one.

You probably have the speaker, but don't recognize it as such - it's a small cylinder with 2 wires that just plugs into the MB. It's not the typical 2" round PC speaker that you're used to seeing mounted on the case. Same connector IIRC, so you'd be able to hook up an old speaker if you didn't get one with the case hardware.

Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, a speaker as described is built in. There are error codes when a problem occurs with a component, function,...This gives of a series of beeps,or whatever to help identify where the problem may be located. Now for audio, you still need a speaker system of some sort, but I digress.

It depends on the motherboard. Seems to be hit and miss as to whether or not it's build into the motherboard and/or included with the mobo accessories. At one time all cases came with a speaker, and not all motherboard manufacturers have taken up the slack.

My X58A-UD3R came with a small black speaker that plugs into the i/o port area (its a cylinder about 1cm tall with a black and red wire)
