the $650 budget is solely for the system actually. I will get the monitor later.

btw. am i looking for the enthusiast platform?

then you can do it. i wouldnt get a quad, perhaps a 530 on p55/h55? p55 if you want to sli the 460 later on.

Not with a $650 budget. A motherboard, CPU, and RAM alone will cost that much.

not really. you can do dual core, or quad but its too close for quality components.

so i bought the gaming bundle.
now i just need a GPU and ram.

is the motherboard of the bundle good?

A decent 4GB kit of DDR3 will run you about $80-90, so that leaves ~$300 for a GPU. In that case, I recommend an ATI 5850.

4GB DDR3-1600 from any of these, G Skill, Corsair, Patroit or Mushkin will set you back around $100 - $120

GTX460 1GB around $250, or HD5850 around $300.

Edit: Since you went with the Intel combo, go for the GTX460 1GB, better performance over the 5850 and you can get a 2nd one later on if you wish to sli
