Upgrading my Dell Studio XPS 8100
Hey guys,

I recently bought this computer and Id like to upgrade it.

Dell Studio XPS 8100

i7-860 (2.80GHz)
12GB DDR3 SDRAM @ 1333MHz
ATI Radeon 5450 1GB
350W PSU

Blue-ray 6x Disc Combo
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

I only have 1 PCI-E slot and so I cannot do SLI.
What Im thinking is to change the video card (for SC2 on ultra) and power supply (maybe 500+W).

Can you guys recommend any upgrades?

What kind of money are you looking to spend on this?

take a pic of the side of the comp, make sure the psu is visible, and give us its part number. dell site says you can use a 5770 without upgrading psu. scII on ultra might need more than a 5770.

I'm trying to keep the expenses close to $300… I will try and sell the video card and PSU to get a bit more on the budget

NCIX has the GTX 460 1gb MSI OC Cyclone for $220 which leaves you about $50 for a decent powersupply.

ask 75 for the psu and gpu.

as for a new psu, hmmmm...the corsair 450 watter will deliver enough juice, some dude on rfd has it for cheap or look for an earthwatts 430/500

Video card: Newegg.ca - GIGABYTE GV-N460OC-1GI GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
PSU: Newegg.ca - Antec NEO ECO 520C 520W Continuous Power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

That should do you good.
