My System Specs

Default Build for little brother ~ $1100 after tax

So I'm building my brother a computer. He has 1100 to spend, so that's gotta include tax (13%) & shipping (around 50 bucks).
He plays WoW, and is gonna use it for school. I will be overclocking it, so i want to stick with intel ;)

He's gonna buy one of my 9800GTX for cheap, might add another one down the road. It'll be using a 1680x1050 monitor.. separate from this build

Here's what I got lined up, this is with the latest NCIX sale.

Things on sale include: heatsink, motherboard, CPU, PSU, Keyboard, and DVD drive. So I think those prices will be hard to beat..

My questions are.. is that a good mouse? It's cheap and has pretty good customer reviews.. He doesn't care much and doesn't want to spend 100 bucks on a mouse.
Hows' that motherboard? I kinda just chose an SLI gigabyte board on sale for p55, figure I can't go wrong?
That heatsink is a good price, the price for the xigmatek has to include the adapter clip, so it's a few bucks more.. the noctua has gotta be better plus it has those awesome fans included..

That PSU has 20 dollar mail in rebate, so it's quite cheap.

Anyone see anything they would change? Please provide input :)

if he likes cooler master, maybe try the 922? awesome unit, bout 40 cheaper than its bigger brother.

i dont see a 212+ in there :)

also for wow it might be a bit overkill, perhaps try a 530 and still oc it for now?

great mobo, you can get a bit cheaper with giga and p55.

im thinking earthwatts 500 should be enough, and probably cheaper.

I checked the price of the 922, I'm seeing $129.99, same as the 932? Where are you seeing it cheaper!

I swapped the cooler for the 212 plus. Saved a bit there. Thank you.

And yes it's a tad much for WoW, but he's probably going to get into more games now that he can, and he's got the money to spend so instead of upgrading later, he'll have lots of CPU power so he can add another video card, or switch that.

The 500 would be enough for a single card yes, but with a dual video card setup which he'll potentially be doing, I'd rather have the 620W so it's not near full load. Plus it's on sale for 90 with a $20 MIR.

Thank you! Somehow missed that.

I'm down to $886.85, Thanks for the help so far! Saved him 27 bucks from this thread.

Newegg.ca - COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP Black Steel + Plastic and Mesh Bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Cooler Master HAF 922 Mid Tower ATX Case (RC-922M-KKN1-GP) | Canada Computers

why i tell people to get a dual core now and upgrade later is that most of them will barely use 2 cores. you know that 1055 are ggoing for around 175 or lower used right? hell in 6 months well probably see below 150 bucks. if he needs one, itll probably be by the time they get to 100 bucks used or less? :)

look up the 850 watts for 95 bucks then, if you really want to future proof. but i wouldve gone with the 500 since hes not adding a second card right now :)

edit as much as i like the 922, and il lbuild with it whenever budget permits, you sure he might not like a nice and below 40 bucks pmed ps04b? :)

About that mouse, I personally don't like the look of it, but that's subjective.

In my opinion, you should ditch the G15 and grab the OCZ Alchemy, so you can get an Ikari instead of the Gigabyte mouse. I actually recently got the Alchemy just about a week ago, and I'm loving it.
